The Clippers concluded the 2021–22 regular season with a 42–40 record, finishing 9th in the Western Conference. They participated in the Play-In Tournament but were eliminated after losses to the Minnesota Timberwolves and the New Orleans Pelicans, thus missing the playoffs for the first time since 2018.
