The Austin Spurs’ 2018-19 season followed the franchise’s championship run but proved to be a far different campaign on the court. Austin finished 20-30, placed third in the Southwest Division, and missed the NBA G League playoffs, marking a sharp decline from the title-winning team of the previous year.
Frequent roster turnover reshaped the club throughout the season. Drew Eubanks emerged as one of the team’s most productive players before earning a larger role within the San Antonio organization, while prospects such as Lonnie Walker IV, Chimezie Metu, and Donte Grantham spent time in Austin as part of their professional development. The roster also featured experienced G League contributors including Darrun Hilliard and Nick Johnson, two important pieces from the previous championship era. Although the Spurs were unable to defend their title or return to the postseason, the 2018-19 season served as a transition year as a new group of prospects began moving through the San Antonio system.
