The Austin Spurs’ 2021-22 season marked the franchise’s return to a full schedule after the pandemic-shortened campaign of the previous year, but sustained success proved difficult to find. Austin finished 13-19 and placed 11th in the Western Conference, missing the playoffs in a season that featured significant roster turnover and regular movement between the G League and San Antonio.
While the results were uneven, the roster offered a glimpse of several players working toward NBA opportunities. Joshua Primo, Joe Wieskamp, Devontae Cacok, and Zach Collins all appeared during the season, while D.J. Stewart emerged as Austin’s leading scorer over the course of the year. Under head coach Petar Božić, the Spurs spent much of the season integrating young prospects and recent acquisitions rather than mounting a playoff push. As a result, the 2021-22 campaign is remembered less for team success and more for the developmental opportunities it provided within the San Antonio organization.
