The 1968–69 New York Nets were led by Willie Somerset’s high-volume scoring and Walt Simon’s versatile production, with both players providing much of the team’s offensive creation. Manny Leaks gave the frontcourt a strong rebounding presence, while additional interior contributors helped support the rotation. The team relied heavily on individual scoring and rebounding, but inconsistent shooting efficiency limited overall offensive effectiveness.
Note: The team was known as the New York Nets in 1968–69. They had moved from New Jersey to New York and played at the Commack Arena and later at the Island Garden.
