The Kings concluded the 2016–17 season with a 32–50 record, finishing 12th in the Western Conference. They averaged 102.8 points per game (24th in the league) and allowed 106.7 points per game (19th). The team underwent significant changes mid-season, including trading DeMarcus Cousins to the New Orleans Pelicans, acquiring Buddy Hield, and integrating several young players into the rotation.
