The 1988–89 New Jersey Nets leaned heavily on Buck Williams and Roy Hinson, who supplied consistent scoring and formed the foundation of the team’s frontcourt. Dennis Hopson added perimeter offence, while Maurice Cheeks directed the attack with steady playmaking and defensive leadership. Strong rebounding remained a team strength, but inconsistent shooting efficiency and limited offensive depth made it difficult for the Nets to produce points consistently.
