The Capital City Go-Go took a step forward in 2023-24, finishing 21-13 and establishing themselves as one of the stronger teams in the Eastern Conference. The season was driven by a productive backcourt led by Jared Butler, whose scoring and playmaking made him one of the league’s most impactful guards, while Eugene Omoruyi provided a steady offensive presence and brought valuable NBA experience to the roster. The Go-Go also benefited from the organizational connection to the Washington Wizards, with assignments and affiliate players frequently contributing throughout the year. Capital City’s success stemmed from its offensive depth and ability to generate points from multiple areas of the floor rather than relying on a single dominant scorer. A playoff appearance followed, further solidifying the franchise’s place among the G League’s more consistent contenders and setting the stage for an even deeper postseason run the following season.

PLAYER NAME ROLE TIER MPG USAGE TIER PPG RPG APG STK IMPACT INDEX NOTES AWARDS
Eugene Omoruyi Primary Scoring Forward (1.1) 31.8 High 23.8 8.3 1.5 2.0 93.98 Two-way forward who functioned as a scoring pressure point for Capital City, with his physicality allowing him to attack inside while also stretching defenses. Contemporary coverage noted his unusual NBA/G League role: he had to stay ready for irregular minutes and plug whatever gaps Washington needed, while his Go-Go assignment gave him a much larger offensive responsibility. The Washington Post — Depth pieces embrace the opportunity
Hamidou Diallo Slashing Two-Way Wing (1.1) 31.5 High 18.5 7.7 2.7 2.0 81.58 An explosive downhill wing, Diallo was used to pressure the rim and create offense through athletic drives rather than perimeter shooting. His 2024 reporting emphasized the contrast: he was scoring efficiently from the field while remaining a major rebounding presence, but his outside shot remained the obvious limitation. Bullets Forever — Wizards sign G Hamidou Diallo to 10-day contract
Devon Dotson Franchise Floor General (1.1) 32.5 High 17.3 5.4 5.6 1.6 78.94 Dotson’s value came from controlling tempo and organizing the offense as much as from scoring. His Go-Go tenure ended with the franchise assist record, and contemporary reporting described his departure as an international opportunity after he had become the team’s principal playmaking reference point. Chat Sports — Capital City Go-Go buy out Devon Dotson
Jules Bernard Primary Wing Creator (1.1) 31.1 High 18.7 5.9 3.8 1.1 77.88 Bernard operated as a versatile scoring wing who could also initiate offense, with Capital City personnel specifically highlighting his ability to score, shoot, make plays and defend multiple positions. His February run reinforced that all-around role rather than portraying him as merely a scorer. Bullets Forever — Jules Bernard recognized as G League Player of the Week G League Player of the Week (2024)
Jared Butler Pick-and-Roll Engine (1.05) 29.5 High 12.0 5.5 8.0 1.5 68.04 Butler was the team’s principal table-setter when available, repeatedly combining scoring with high-level pick-and-roll creation and late-clock decision-making. His early-season Player of the Week stretch included a 13-assist game, a 32-point/12-assist performance and the decisive three-pointer in an overtime target-score finish. Patrick Baldwin Jr. Stretch Four Scorer (1.05) 25.5 Medium 13.6 7.1 2.0 2.9 59.14 Baldwin’s role centered on using his size and shooting range from the forward line while providing secondary rim protection. Contemporary Wizards coverage described his assignment minutes as an opportunity to develop a more consistent two-way role, and his G League usage gave him considerably more responsibility than his limited NBA role. (Capital City Go-Go) Bullets Forever — Grading every player on the Wizards’ Summer League roster
Ryan Rollins Transition Guard (1.05) 26.4 Medium 13.4 4.4 1.8 2.2 50.36 Rollins supplied pace, downhill finishing and secondary creation during his short Go-Go stint. Reporting around his January roster move noted that he had held his own in Capital City despite bouncing between the NBA and G League, while his length also showed up defensively through deflections and steals. (Bullets Forever) Basketball Insiders — Wizards waive Ryan Rollins
Michael Foster Jr. Interior Scoring Forward (1.05) 21.1 Medium 7.4 5.1 1.3 1.7 35.80 Foster served as an interior-oriented frontcourt piece who could finish efficiently around the basket, rebound through contact and provide occasional passing. His season context was developmental: he moved between reserve and starting roles while remaining one of the team’s more useful young frontcourt options. Bullets Forever — Capital City Go-Go rout Grand Rapids
DeJon Jarreau Backup Point Guard (1.0) 15.7 Medium 8.5 3.1 3.6 0.9 35.42 Jarreau’s role was built around ball pressure, connective passing and secondary point-guard work rather than volume scoring. His later G League opportunity with Memphis showed the same profile more expansively, with his playmaking and rebounding helping produce multiple double-doubles and triple-doubles. Memphis Grizzlies — Grizzlies sign DeJon Jarreau to 10-day contract
Davion Mintz Perimeter Shot Creator (1.0) 22.7 Medium 11.2 1.8 2.3 1.5 36.96 Mintz functioned primarily as a second-unit perimeter scorer, capable of creating a shot without dominating the offense. His established Go-Go role involved returning to the organization after a productive prior season, giving Capital City another experienced guard who could handle scoring bursts and secondary playmaking. Bullets Forever — Checking in on the Capital City Go-Go
John Butler Rim-Protecting Centerpiece (1.05) 22.7 Medium 7.0 3.9 0.4 2.4 31.65 Butler’s defining function was defensive length: his seven-foot frame allowed him to contest at the rim while also spacing the floor offensively. A late-February game provided a good example of his utility, when his late block helped secure a close win after Capital City rallied from an 18-point deficit. OurSports Central — Go-Go overcome 18-point deficit
Malik Fitts Floor-Spacer Reserve (1.0) 17.3 Low 4.9 3.5 1.0 0.6 20.00 Fitts filled a reserve frontcourt role built around spacing and positional size rather than high-volume creation. His broader G League career had already made him a familiar developmental veteran, and the 2023-24 Go-Go stint continued that low-usage complementary function. Memphis Hustle — Hustle acquire returning player rights to Malik Fitts
Chase Audige Defensive Utility Wing (1.0) 14.4 Low 4.2 1.9 1.0 1.1 16.40 Audige’s pathway into the rotation was tied to defensive versatility and willingness to contribute without needing many possessions. His college reputation as a defensive specialist carried into his professional role, where he was used primarily as a reserve guard capable of adding energy and perimeter pressure. OurSports Central — Long Island Nets acquire Chase Audige rights
Jake Stephens Stretch Center (1.0) 9.0 Low 3.5 2.0 0.5 0.0 12.00 Stephens offered a different look at center through his shooting touch and offensive skill set, but his Capital City role was limited by the crowded frontcourt rotation. When opportunities arrived, he could still contribute as a scoring and rebounding interior option rather than functioning as a traditional rim-running five. The NBA G League — Go-Go acquire Jake Stephens via trade
Gabe Kalscheur Spot-Up Guard (1.0) 11.5 Low 3.3 1.1 0.2 0.5 10.20 Kalscheur’s Go-Go role was largely that of a low-usage perimeter specialist, with his previous Iowa State profile built around three-point shooting and defensive activity. His eventual move to Iowa came after a limited Capital City role, reinforcing that he was being evaluated primarily as depth rather than a central creator. OurSports Central — Iowa Wolves add Gabe Kalscheur
Daryl Doualla Developmental Wing Reserve (1.0) 4.0 Low 1.3 1.0 0.3 0.0 5.20 Doualla was used sparingly as an international-development prospect rather than as part of the established rotation. His roster pathway was notable because Capital City selected him in the International G League Draft, giving him an opportunity to acclimate to professional basketball before the organization later waived him to create roster flexibility. The NBA G League — Go-Go acquire Jake Stephens via trade

Hamidou Diallo Explosive Rim Pressure Wing (1.1) 29.3 High (1.2) 20.1 7.7 1.7 1.9 82.90 Downhill athleticism defined Diallo’s role, with his first step and strength making him a constant rim threat rather than a perimeter-volume scorer. Contemporary reporting highlighted his ability to finish through contact and noted a 30-point, eight-assist outing against Raptors 905; he also became a frequent two-way call-up candidate. Sports Illustrated — Washington Wizards Make Intriguing Roster Moves
Justin Champagnie Two-Way Scoring Wing (1.1) 33.0 High (1.2) 18.8 7.0 2.6 2.6 81.84 A high-motor wing who combined spot-up shooting with offensive rebounding and disruptive defense, Champagnie immediately became a featured scorer after arriving in February. Jared Butler Lead Pick-and-Roll Creator (1.1) 32.7 High (1.2) 18.6 3.1 7.0 2.0 81.05 Butler operated as the primary organizer, comfortable manipulating pick-and-rolls and creating his own pull-up jumper when possessions stalled. His December surge included 24 points and 13 assists followed by 32 points and 12 assists, a stretch that earned G League Player of the Week honors. Jules Bernard Versatile Wing Initiator (1.1) 32.6 High (1.2) 19.7 6.0 3.6 1.3 80.78 Bernard’s value came from doing a little of everything on the wing: scoring, secondary creation, rebounding and switching defensively. His February Player of the Week stretch showed that versatility, and independent Wizards coverage had already identified him as a player whose passing and defensive flexibility stood out. Bullets Forever — Johnny Davis assigned to the Go-Go NBA G League Player of the Week (Feb. 5–11, 2024)
Eugene Omoruyi Physical Two-Way Forward (1.1) 30.1 High (1.2) 18.4 6.5 2.8 1.5 77.09 Omoruyi was essentially a plug-and-play forward, using physical drives, interior strength and defensive activity to fill whatever lineup gap appeared. The Washington Post described his NBA/G League existence as requiring constant readiness because his minutes could change abruptly, which fits the adaptable role he carried during this run. The Washington Post — As the Wizards evaluate their roster, depth pieces embrace the opportunity
Devon Dotson High-Tempo Floor General (1.1) 30.5 High (1.2) 15.2 4.4 6.3 1.8 73.13 Dotson controlled possessions through pace and early offense, while his passing allowed the Go-Go to generate shots without relying entirely on isolation scoring. He finished his Capital City tenure as the franchise’s career assists leader, and his ability to produce double-digit assist games was a recurring part of the season’s offensive structure. Bullets Forever — Checking in on the Capital City Go-Go
Patrick Baldwin Jr. Stretch Forward Scorer (1.05) 25.0 Medium (1.1) 13.4 7.0 2.6 1.8 57.29 Baldwin’s best fit was as a large shooting forward who could space the floor without sacrificing rebounding or weak-side rim protection. His G League assignments were particularly important developmentally because Washington was searching for more meaningful minutes and a clearer two-way role for the former first-round pick. Sports Illustrated — Wizards Make A Couple Roster Moves
R.J. Hampton Downhill Combo Guard (1.05) 25.1 Medium (1.1) 14.1 3.6 3.5 0.9 51.05 Hampton brought speed and attacking instincts to the backcourt, giving Capital City another guard capable of turning defensive rebounds into transition opportunities. His February arrival came after a short Sioux Falls stint, and his prior NBA experience made him a more seasoned addition than a typical G League call-up. The Washington Post — Wizards’ skid reaches 15 games with loss to Jazz
Michael Foster Jr. Interior Finishing Forward (1.05) 23.2 Medium (1.1) 10.7 7.4 1.7 1.7 49.67 Foster worked as a physical interior forward who could finish efficiently, attack offensive rebounds and defend around the paint. His double-double against Toronto illustrated the value of that role, while his season-long development centered on becoming a more dependable two-way frontcourt piece.
Ryan Rollins Secondary Creation Guard (1.0) 18.8 Medium (1.1) 13.8 3.0 1.8 1.5 44.22 Rollins supplied scoring bursts and secondary ball-handling rather than running the offense full-time. His movement between Washington and Capital City limited continuity, but his G League minutes gave him room to attack closeouts and use his length defensively.
Jake Stephens Pick-and-Pop Center (1.05) 18.5 Medium (1.1) 8.0 5.3 2.4 1.4 39.50 Stephens gave the frontcourt a different offensive geometry, stretching opposing centers while still providing legitimate size on the glass. During the season he moved into starting duty at times and produced several efficient scoring-and-rebounding games, including a 10-point, 11-rebound performance against Westchester. Texas Legends — Texas Legends Acquire Jake Stephens and 2024 1st Round Pick
Johnny Davis Defensive Pressure Guard (1.05) 27.8 Medium (1.1) 8.5 3.8 2.2 2.5 39.27 Davis’s most noticeable impact came from defensive aggression and activity, with his size giving him unusual disruption potential for a guard. His G League assignment was explicitly intended to create a larger developmental role, and he produced a career-high seven steals in one February game. Bullets Forever — Johnny Davis assigned to the Go-Go
Davion Mintz Second-Unit Shot Maker (1.0) 22.9 Medium (1.1) 10.7 2.4 3.0 0.9 37.40 Mintz functioned as a scoring-oriented reserve guard, giving the Go-Go another player who could manufacture a jumper when the primary creators were off the floor. His longer familiarity with the organization made him a useful stabilizing piece during a season with frequent roster movement.
Taylor Funk Movement Shooting Forward (1.05) 23.9 Medium (1.1) 9.4 3.1 1.9 1.3 36.27 Funk’s offensive value came from movement shooting and quick-trigger spacing rather than isolation creation. After arriving from Maine, he immediately entered the starting group, and his February shooting surge included consecutive five-three games and a career-high 22 points. OurSports Central — Capital City Go-Go Complete Two Trades; Acquire Mychal Mulder and Taylor Funk
RJ Nembhard Jr. Backup Initiator (1.0) 23.8 Medium (1.1) 7.5 3.0 4.3 1.0 34.76 Nembhard was primarily a connective guard, handling secondary initiation and keeping the offense moving rather than monopolizing possessions. His late-season acquisition gave Capital City another experienced ball-handler during a period when Dotson had departed and the backcourt was being reshuffled.
John Butler Shot-Blocking Stretch Center (1.05) 19.5 Medium (1.1) 6.7 3.2 0.5 1.9 28.41 Butler’s seven-foot frame shaped his role on both ends: defensively he could erase mistakes around the rim, while offensively his willingness to shoot extended opposing bigs away from the basket. A late-February win offered a useful snapshot when his game-changing fourth-quarter block helped preserve the comeback.
Mychal Mulder Veteran Floor Spacer (1.0) 17.3 Low (1.0) 5.2 1.1 1.3 0.4 16.00 Mulder was deployed as a veteran shooting specialist whose main offensive purpose was to punish defenses that helped too far off him. His season included several bench scoring bursts, including a 20-point outing against Birmingham built around six made threes. RotoWire — Mychal Mulder NBA Stats & News
Chase Audige Perimeter Defensive Specialist (1.0) 11.1 Low (1.0) 4.4 2.0 0.7 0.8 15.80 Audige’s path to minutes was built around defensive energy and willingness to guard on the perimeter without demanding offensive touches. His reserve role was particularly useful in a roster where several higher-usage guards already handled the creation burden.
Marvin Smith Energy Wing Reserve (1.0) 9.7 Low (1.0) 3.0 3.3 0.0 1.4 15.40 Smith arrived late in the season as an experienced G League wing, giving Capital City another physical depth option rather than a new primary scorer. His previous G League experience made him a natural short-term roster stabilizer during the team’s late-season turnover.
Jordan Goldwire Defensive Point Guard Reserve (1.0) 13.0 Low (1.0) 0.0 1.0 1.0 2.0 8.00 Goldwire’s value was rooted in point-of-attack defense and ball pressure, a profile established during his Duke and Oklahoma career before his international stops. He joined Capital City late after Devon Dotson’s departure, giving the Go-Go another defensive-minded organizer for the closing stretch.
Gabe Kalscheur Spot-Up Defensive Guard (1.0) 6.1 Low (1.0) 2.0 0.6 0.3 0.2 6.20 Kalscheur was a low-usage perimeter option whose profile centered on catch-and-shoot spacing and defensive effort. His limited role became even harder to maintain after R.J. Hampton arrived in February, and Capital City subsequently waived him to open the roster spot.
