The Ciudad de México Capitanes continued to strengthen their place within the NBA G League in 2025-26, pairing experienced professionals with emerging talent in another competitive campaign. Unlike many G League teams built primarily around NBA assignments, the Capitanes again leaned into their international identity, assembling a roster that reflected the organization’s unique position as the league’s representative in Mexico. Veteran leadership and continuity helped keep the club in the playoff picture, while several players used the season to enhance their profiles for opportunities in larger leagues. Beyond the win-loss record, the year reinforced the Capitanes’ distinct role within the G League, serving as both a destination for accomplished international players and a pathway for prospects seeking advancement on a North American stage.

James Bouknight Primary Scoring Guard (1.1) 30.3 High 20.6 5.2 2.7 0.8 77.35 A downhill scoring guard with permission to attack, Bouknight immediately became Mexico City’s main offensive outlet. Contemporary reporting described him as the Capitanes’ former lottery pick and highlighted the opportunity for him to rebuild his role in a G League setting. Coach Vitor Galvani on James Bouknight fit with Mexico City Capitanes
Boo Buie Lead Pick-and-Roll Creator (1.1) 32.2 High 19.1 4.2 4.2 1.1 75.50 Buie’s game centered on self-created offense and playmaking, with his scoring pedigree carrying directly into Mexico City’s backcourt. The Sporting News noted that the Capitanes acquired the former Northwestern scoring record-holder as he moved into another G League opportunity. Northwestern basketball legend traded from Westchester Knicks to Mexico City G League
Wade Taylor IV Franchise Floor General (1.1) 26.0 High 11.6 2.4 5.3 1.9 55.97 Taylor functioned as the team’s primary table-setter, balancing heavy ball-handling with pull-up shooting and aggressive late-clock creation. Houston Chronicle coverage previously captured the same profile, describing him as a player whose shot-making could swing games when the stage became more demanding. March Madness: Jamal Shead vs. Wade Taylor IV. It’s game on.
LJ Figueroa Starting Two-Way Wing (1.05) 27.8 Medium 13.5 6.0 2.3 2.6 56.36 Figueroa supplied the connective wing play that kept the offense from becoming entirely guard-dependent, while his activity showed up on both ends. His earlier G League track record also established a versatile forward capable of scoring, rebounding and creating secondary offense. LJ Figueroa
RJ Melendez Secondary Wing Creator (1.05) 27.2 Medium 13.0 4.8 1.6 2.1 49.67 Melendez operated as a physical scoring wing who could attack without requiring every possession to be organized around him. Early tournament coverage showed that role clearly when he paced Mexico City with 23 points in the opening back-to-back set. Hustle Sweep Back-to-Back Against Capitanes
Felipe Haase Stretch Big (1.05) 28.3 Medium 12.5 5.5 2.5 1.0 49.67 Haase brought a useful inside-out dimension, functioning as a frontcourt player comfortable operating away from the rim while still contributing on the glass. Chilean coverage entering the G League emphasized his ability to play both as a wing and interior player, which fit Mexico City’s flexible frontcourt usage. El gran salto de Felipe Haase que lo acerca a la NBA
Isaih Moore Interior Scoring Forward (1.05) 23.4 Medium 12.2 6.8 0.4 1.7 48.74 Moore’s value came from physical interior play rather than perimeter creation, giving Mexico City a vertical scoring and rebounding presence. Independent contemporary coverage has been limited, but reporting around his G League move emphasized his length, quick feet and ability to finish explosively around the rim. One Minute With Isaih Moore
Reynan dos Santos Developmental Wing Creator (1.05) 31.4 Medium 12.0 4.0 3.0 1.4 47.12 Dos Santos was used as a young wing creator rather than simply a spot-up reserve, with enough ball responsibility to generate offense and make plays. Brazilian coverage around his 2025 professional move described him as one of the country’s leading young prospects after his Franca development and youth-national-team success. Quem é Reynan dos Santos, brasileiro inscrito no Draft 2024 da NBA
Andersson Garcia Rebounding Defensive Anchor (1.05) 23.6 Medium 8.9 8.2 1.9 1.3 46.89 Garcia’s identity was built around possession-winning activity: crashing the glass, defending physically and creating extra possessions without needing plays called for him. Houston Chronicle coverage specifically portrayed him as an unusual glue player whose impact came heavily through hustle and work away from the ball. Texas A&M basketball: Andersson Garcia as the ‘glue guy’ NBA G League All-Defensive Team (2026)
Ahmad Caver Backup Point Guard (1.05) 25.2 Low 7.5 2.0 3.3 0.5 27.93 Caver’s role was that of a veteran organizer, supplying secondary ball-handling rather than dominating possessions. Basketball Europe coverage from his prior European season described him specifically as a point guard whose absence could disrupt Dijon because of its importance in organizing the offense. Laurent Legname (Dijon) : “Jouer sans meneur, c’est difficile au basket”
Tomas Chapero Starting Interior Presence (1.05) 20.4 Low 5.1 4.2 0.9 1.7 24.99 Chapero’s minutes were built around interior size, finishing and defensive activity rather than perimeter volume. Independent Argentine coverage has been limited during this tournament window, while his preceding Obras stint highlighted his paint scoring and rebounding as the foundations of his game. Chapero: «Estoy seguro que el equipo va a funcionar porque tenemos grandes jugadores»
Geronimo Rubio De La Rosa Perimeter Development Guard (1.0) 11.3 Low 3.8 2.3 0.8 0.7 15.20 Rubio De La Rosa entered the professional season as a developmental guard after a productive Columbia career, bringing a perimeter-oriented skill set into a limited G League role. Contemporary coverage of his move to Mexico City emphasized his long college résumé and shooting background. Geronimo Rubio De La Rosa ‘25CC Signs Professional Contract with the Mexico City Capitanes
Alejandro Vasquez Instant-Offense Reserve (1.0) 11.0 Low 4.3 1.7 0.7 0.7 14.80 Vasquez was deployed in a short-minute reserve role, with his value centered on giving the second unit another perimeter option without a large creation burden. Independent season-specific reporting was limited for his brief Mexico City stint.
Esteban Roacho Defensive Utility Guard (1.0) 10.3 Low 3.0 1.0 0.3 1.0 10.60 Roacho’s development role was unusually tied to the Capitanes’ Mexican-player pathway, but his tournament minutes also showed defensive activity and willingness to pressure the ball. Contemporary reporting later documented his first Capitanes start as a landmark moment for that development program. Esteban Roacho hace historia con Capitanes
Jordan Forbes Energy Reserve (1.0) 11.0 Low 1.0 2.0 1.5 0.0 9.00 Forbes occupied a deep-reserve role, providing spot minutes rather than a defined offensive workload. Independent coverage of his short Mexico City stint is limited, so there is little contemporaneous reporting beyond roster and transaction coverage to establish a more detailed role description.
Josue Erazo Frontcourt Depth Piece (1.0) 10.5 Low 0.0 1.0 0.0 0.5 3.00 Erazo was a short-term interior depth option whose contribution was principally tied to size and defensive possessions. Contemporary independent coverage of his two-game Mexico City stint was extremely limited, making stronger season-specific role conclusions difficult to support.
Drew Cisse Rim-Protection Reserve (1.0) 1.0 Low 0.0 0.0 0.0 0.0 0.00 Cisse’s Mexico City sample was too small for a meaningful offensive role to develop, leaving him primarily as emergency frontcourt depth. Independent reporting on his brief Capitanes appearance was limited, while broader G League coverage identifies his interior defensive and rebounding profile.

James Bouknight Primary Offensive Engine (1.1) 31.3 High 19.4 4.3 2.7 1.0 72.34 Shot creation was Bouknight’s defining job, with Mexico City giving the former lottery pick sustained freedom to attack. Reporting around his arrival described the Capitanes as a place where established NBA prospects could rebuild their careers, while later coverage singled him out as one of the team’s main offensive references. (Yahoo Sports) G League Next Up Game selection (2026); G League 3-Point Contest participant (2026); G League 3-Point Contest champion (2026)
Boo Buie Lead Pick-and-Roll Creator (1.1) 33.1 High 16.6 4.7 4.6 1.4 72.07 Buie handled a substantial share of Mexico City’s creation burden, pairing pull-up scoring with the ability to organize possessions. Contemporary coverage emphasized his status as Northwestern’s all-time leading scorer, while later reporting noted that he started all 30 games for the Capitanes. (Yahoo Sports)
Wade Taylor IV Franchise Floor General (1.1) 27.9 High 14.6 2.3 5.8 1.6 64.15 Taylor was the team’s primary organizer, with Galvani’s system emphasizing constant possession and two-way pressure rather than static half-court basketball. His 5.8 assists underline that playmaking responsibility, while season coverage continued to frame him as a polished scoring guard after his Texas A&M career. (SI)
Andersson Garcia Rebounding Defensive Anchor (1.05) 26.8 Medium 11.5 10.6 2.0 2.3 60.98 Garcia’s role was built around physical possession-winning: crashing the glass, defending with activity and finishing inside. His season drew enough attention to earn a Utah Jazz call-up, and reporting noted 12 double-doubles plus multiple 20-rebound performances before that opportunity. (The NBA G League) NBA Call-Up — Utah Jazz (2026); NBA G League All-Defensive Team (2026)
LJ Figueroa Two-Way Slashing Wing (1.05) 22.9 Medium 12.6 4.1 2.0 2.1 48.05 Figueroa gave Mexico City a direct wing scorer who could attack the paint without monopolizing possessions. His efficient interior scoring and disruptive defense fit naturally beside the team’s higher-volume guards, while the Capitanes brought him in as one of the notable additions to the 2025-26 roster. (Capitanes CDMX)
Ahmad Caver Veteran Ball-Handling Organizer (1.05) 29.4 Medium 10.7 2.3 4.3 1.8 44.12 Caver supplied veteran point-guard structure behind the team’s younger creators, keeping the offense functional when the primary scorers were off the ball. His previous European career also established him as a lead guard accustomed to organizing possessions rather than simply spotting up.
RJ Melendez Explosive Transition Wing (1.05) 21.1 Medium 11.5 3.7 1.1 1.4 40.89 Melendez’s calling card was athletic pressure on the wing, particularly in transition and above the rim. His explosive dunking earned him a place in the 2026 G League Slam Dunk Contest, where his athleticism was specifically highlighted as a defining part of his appeal. (Capitanes CDMX) G League Slam Dunk Contest participant (2026)
Felipe Haase Stretch Frontcourt Connector (1.05) 22.1 Medium 9.8 3.4 1.8 0.6 36.04 Haase’s value came from versatility rather than a single specialized task. In describing his earlier Capitanes season, he explained that his role changed according to the opponent and available personnel, with the coaching staff asking Latin players to help control the game in a fast, loosely structured G League environment. (El Mercurio)
Reynan dos Santos Developmental Wing Creator (1.05) 22.8 Medium 10.1 3.0 1.3 1.0 35.57 Dos Santos was treated as a young international prospect with genuine creation upside rather than merely a developmental body. Mexico City selected his G League rights third overall in the 2025 International Draft, reflecting the interest surrounding a player already experienced with Franca, Pinheiros and Brazil’s youth national teams. (Capitanes CDMX) G League International Draft No. 3 selection (2025); G League Draft Combine invitee (2026)
Isaih Moore Interior Scoring Forward (1.0) 16.0 Low 7.8 3.9 1.1 0.8 27.20 Moore was primarily an interior finisher and rebounder, giving Mexico City a physical frontcourt option after joining from Greensboro. His earlier 2025-26 stint with the Swarm had already shown that profile, with starting assignments and an emphasis on rebounding and rim protection before the move south. (Capitanes CDMX)
Tomas Chapero Rim-Protecting Centerpiece (1.0) 22.7 Low 5.7 4.0 0.9 2.1 25.40 Chapero’s role was distinctly interior: screen, finish, rebound and protect the paint. His 34 starts show the coaching staff trusted that defensive structure even without a large offensive workload, and his 6-foot-11 frame made him a natural back-line presence. (The NBA G League)
Jordan Minor Physical Interior Reserve (1.0) 15.3 Low 7.1 3.5 0.6 1.0 24.40 Minor joined Mexico City late in the regular season after moving through Memphis and Birmingham, giving the Capitanes another strong-bodied frontcourt defender. His prior G League production was built around efficient interior scoring, rebounding and defensive activity rather than perimeter creation. (Capitanes CDMX)
Geronimo Rubio De La Rosa Perimeter Development Guard (1.0) 5.3 Low 2.3 0.8 0.8 0.3 8.40 Rubio De La Rosa’s season was primarily developmental, following a Columbia career in which he established himself as a perimeter scorer and prolific three-point shooter. He arrived in Mexico City after finishing eighth on Columbia’s all-time scoring list and second in program history in three-pointers made. (Columbia University Athletics)
Esteban Roacho Mexican Development Guard (1.0) 3.8 Low 1.2 0.8 0.1 0.7 5.60 Roacho’s role was closely tied to Mexico City’s player-development pathway for Mexican prospects. He made history by becoming the first player developed through Capitanes por México to start an official Capitanes game, an important marker of the program’s developmental purpose. (Capitanes CDMX)

Andersson Garcia Starting Rebounding Forward (1.05) 23.0 Low 4.0 9.0 1.0 3.0 35.70 Garcia worked primarily as a possession-winning forward rather than a scoring option, using his size and activity on the glass; his nine rebounds, steal and two blocks reflected the defensive-rebounding responsibility that had been central to his season. Reynan dos Santos Starting Slashing Wing (1.05) 30.0 Medium 7.0 3.0 3.0 2.0 34.65 Dos Santos operated as a downhill, defensive-minded wing whose value went beyond his modest scoring line; draft-focused scouting described his long-stride drives, ability to collapse defenses and willingness to fight through screens, traits that showed up in his three assists and two steals here. Ahmad Caver Starting Floor General (1.05) 31.0 Medium 4.0 4.0 3.0 2.0 30.03 Caver served as the starting point guard and defensive organizer, but the playoff matchup turned him into a facilitator rather than a reliable scoring threat; he logged 31 minutes and added three assists, four rebounds and two defensive plays despite going 2-for-12 from the field. RealGM — Rip City Remix at Mexico City Capitanes Game Preview
LJ Figueroa Rotation Wing (1.0) 24.0 Low 9.0 0.0 2.0 2.0 26.00 Figueroa provided compact two-way wing minutes off the bench, attacking selectively rather than forcing offense; his efficient 3-for-5 shooting and two defensive events gave Mexico City useful secondary production despite limited touches. RÉCORD — Dominicanos podrán estar en la jornada del NBA All Star Weekend
Tomas Chapero Starting Interior Protector (1.05) 33.0 Low 5.0 2.0 2.0 2.0 23.10 Chapero’s job was largely interior-oriented and low usage, with the starting center providing screens, finishing opportunities and rim protection rather than creating his own offense; he converted both field-goal attempts while adding two assists and a block. Contemporary independent coverage of his specific playoff role was limited. RealGM — Rip City Remix at Mexico City Capitanes Game Preview
Felipe Haase Stretch-Big Reserve (1.0) 15.0 Low 3.0 3.0 1.0 1.0 16.00 Haase functioned as a spacing-oriented reserve big, with his four attempts all coming from three-point range; his value in the playoff rotation was therefore tied more to floor spacing and positional size than volume scoring. Earlier season reporting also highlighted his two-way value in a key Capitanes win. Cancha Latina — Vitor Galvani, entrenador del mes de enero en la G-League
