The Canton Charge remained a fixture near the top of the Eastern Conference in 2016-17, finishing 29-21 and extending the franchise’s streak of winning seasons. The year was shaped by a steady flow of NBA-caliber talent between Canton and the Cleveland Cavaliers, with assignment players and affiliate prospects playing prominent roles throughout the campaign. John Holland delivered one of the best seasons of his professional career, earning All-NBA D-League recognition while providing a consistent offensive centerpiece. The Charge also received important contributions from Kay Felder, whose electrifying play and eventual NBA appearances with Cleveland highlighted the organization’s close connection to its parent club. Canton advanced to the playoffs once again, reinforcing its reputation as one of the league’s most stable franchises even as roster turnover remained a constant reality.
