The Cleveland Charge enjoyed one of the best seasons in franchise history in 2023-24, finishing 24-10 and emerging as a serious contender in the Eastern Conference. Led by head coach Mike Gerrity, Cleveland played with confidence and continuity, benefiting from a roster that featured a strong blend of Cavaliers affiliates, two-way players, and established G League talent. Emoni Bates was the season’s biggest attraction, showcasing the shot-making ability that had made him a highly regarded prospect, while Craig Porter Jr.’s success with Cleveland highlighted the organization’s ability to develop NBA-ready contributors. The Charge carried their strong regular-season form into the playoffs and advanced to the Eastern Conference Finals, continuing the franchise’s upward trajectory since relocating to Cleveland. More than any individual performance, the season was defined by team success and the growing connection between the Charge and the Cavaliers’ broader player-development system.

Isaiah Mobley Frontcourt Playmaking Hub (1.1) 35.4 High 21.1 10.9 3.7 2.0 97.68 As a two-way forward, Mobley operated as a high-touch interior creator who could initiate offense from the elbow and punish switches. His 10.9 rebounds and 3.7 assists show how much Cleveland relied on him beyond scoring, while contemporaneous game coverage highlighted his ability to combine interior finishing with passing and defensive activity. Cleveland Charge coverage NBA Call-Up (2024)
Emoni Bates Primary Scoring Wing (1.1) 33.9 High 24.8 5.1 1.7 3.0 88.18 Bates functioned as Cleveland’s featured perimeter scorer, with the freedom to hunt threes and create shots rather than simply spacing the floor. His 4.2 made threes per game reflected the volume, while independent coverage described his development as a priority and emphasized the value of giving the 19-year-old substantial professional reps. Sports Illustrated NBA Rising Stars (2024); NBA G League Up Next (2024)
Sharife Cooper Lead Ball-Handling Creator (1.1) 31.8 High 17.6 3.3 6.2 2.1 77.09 Cooper was the team’s primary table-setter, using the ball in pick-and-rolls and controlling possessions late in the clock. His 6.2 assists per game came with substantial scoring responsibility, and his season included a 42-point, 12-assist performance that illustrated how easily his role could shift from organizer to attacking scorer. Cleveland Charge game coverage NBA Call-Up (2024)
Pete Nance Stretch Frontcourt Creator (1.05) 29.7 Medium 12.4 7.6 2.1 2.6 55.67 Nance’s value came from the unusual combination of size, shooting range and passing feel. Charge coach Mike Gerrity specifically described his ability to space, roll or pop and defend multiple positions, while his early-season usage showed him handling more offensive responsibility than a conventional reserve big. Akron Beacon Journal NBA Call-Up (2024); Two-Way Contract (2024)
Aleem Ford Stretch Forward Starter (1.05) 32.0 Medium 10.7 6.3 1.8 1.5 46.89 Ford supplied frontcourt spacing without sacrificing rebounding responsibilities. His 7.3 three-point attempts per game made him a genuine floor-spacing threat, while his 6.3 rebounds and 32.0 minutes indicate that Cleveland used him as a substantial two-way rotation piece rather than a specialist. Cleveland Charge acquisition coverage NBA Call-Up (2024)
Zhaire Smith Starting Two-Way Wing (1.05) 33.0 Medium 12.4 4.3 1.2 2.1 46.20 Smith played a high-minutes wing role built around attacking closeouts, defending on the perimeter and providing secondary scoring. His defensive activity was especially noticeable in individual performances, including a 22-point game with nine rebounds, two steals and two blocks, and his three-point shooting gave the offense useful spacing. NBC Sports NBA Call-Up (2024)
Rob Edwards Movement Shooting Guard (1.0) 21.9 Low 9.9 3.4 1.6 0.9 31.60 Edwards operated as a perimeter scoring specialist who could provide shooting without needing primary creation duties. His Cleveland stint was built around off-ball scoring and spot-up opportunities, with 4.0 three-point attempts per game illustrating a clear floor-spacing assignment. Maine Celtics coverage —
Justin Powell Secondary Pick-and-Roll Guard (1.0) 26.1 Low 7.4 4.3 1.4 0.8 27.80 Powell’s role was more connective than dominant: he moved the ball, spaced the floor and occasionally took over a possession when defensive rotations broke down. A 16-point outing on 7-of-13 shooting showed the scoring upside within that supporting role, while later game coverage also highlighted his passing and defensive activity. Cleveland Charge game coverage —
Olin Carter III Bench Shot-Creation Guard (1.0) 16.2 Low 7.2 1.6 1.1 0.7 21.20 Carter was used as a second-unit scoring option, capable of generating offense in short bursts without carrying the team’s primary creation load. His later departure in the Jon Elmore trade also reflected his place within a fluid G League roster rather than a fixed lead-guard role. Cleveland Charge transaction coverage —
Devontae Shuler Instant-Offense Reserve Guard (1.0) 13.0 Low 5.8 1.8 0.9 0.9 18.80 Shuler provided aggressive bench scoring and could change the pace of a game in limited minutes. His 33-point performance, including 21 points in the first half, showed the scoring burst available from the reserve unit, while his regular role remained that of a downhill secondary creator rather than a full-time starter. Cleveland Charge game coverage —
Dibaji Walker Energy Frontcourt Reserve (1.0) 10.0 Low 5.0 1.4 0.3 0.4 14.20 Walker supplied short-burst energy as a frontcourt reserve, with his value coming from physical play, cutting and opportunistic scoring. A 15-point, five-assist performance in 25 minutes showed that his offensive ceiling was higher than his normal workload suggested. Cleveland Charge game coverage —
Gabe Osabuohien Defensive Connector Big (1.0) 12.3 Low 1.4 2.7 2.1 0.6 13.60 Osabuohien’s role was centered on connective play, defensive positioning and making the extra pass rather than shot creation. His unusual passing workload for a reserve forward was evident in a 30-minute double-double featuring 11 rebounds and 10 assists, while his peer-voted Sportsmanship Award reinforced his reputation as a team-first contributor. Sharife Cooper Primary Pick-and-Roll Engine (1.1) 33.0 High (1.2) 19.2 4.4 7.6 1.8 87.12 Cooper worked as the primary ball-handler and possession organizer, repeatedly creating advantages out of pick-and-roll actions. His 7.6 assists reflected that responsibility, while a January 42-point, 12-assist performance showed how readily he could turn from table-setter into lead scorer. Fear The Sword NBA Call-Up (2024)
Isaiah Mobley Two-Way Frontcourt Hub (1.1) 30.8 High (1.2) 17.1 8.1 3.3 1.6 79.46 Mobley operated as a face-up big with genuine playmaking responsibility, rather than simply occupying the interior. His development work that season specifically emphasized expanding his three-point volume; one March performance featured four made threes, including a step-back attempt, illustrating the broader offensive skill set Cleveland wanted him to develop. Fear The Sword —
Emoni Bates High-Volume Scoring Wing (1.1) 34.8 High (1.2) 19.8 5.9 2.0 1.0 75.77 Bates was given unusual freedom for a young perimeter player, functioning as a microwave scorer who could fire from well beyond the arc and take difficult contested jumpers. His 38-point January eruption, including eight threes, reinforced the idea that shot-making was his defining offensive weapon; independent season analysis also noted that his shooting translated while the rest of his game remained a work in progress. Fear The Sword NBA Rising Stars (2024); NBA G League Up Next Game (2024)
Pete Nance Stretch Five Playmaker (1.05) 34.3 Medium (1.1) 13.8 8.5 3.4 2.4 65.60 Nance’s role centered on spacing the floor from the frontcourt while still functioning as a passer and rebounder. His shooting threat forced opposing bigs away from the paint, and his season included a triple-double with 27 points, 12 assists and 10 rebounds, a strong indication that Cleveland trusted him to facilitate rather than merely finish plays. Fear The Sword NBA Call-Up (2024); Two-Way Contract (2024)
Craig Porter Jr. Reserve Lead Guard Creator (1.05) 24.3 Medium (1.1) 15.7 3.0 3.7 1.7 55.67 Porter was primarily a creator who could pressure the defense off the dribble and keep the offense moving when assigned to Cleveland’s G League group. His broader rookie season with Cleveland had already featured five-assist games on multiple occasions and a 21-point, four-assist outing against Denver, illustrating the scoring-and-playmaking combination behind his two-way role. The NBA G League NBA Call-Up (2024)
Zhaire Smith Defensive Pressure Wing (1.05) 32.0 Medium (1.1) 13.3 4.0 1.8 2.2 49.20 Smith’s calling card was disruptive perimeter defense and athleticism, with his offensive role built more around straight-line attacks and spot-up shooting than elaborate self-creation. His return from a lengthy injury absence was a major storyline, and independent scouting compared him favorably to Isaac Okoro as an active two-way wing with limited off-the-dribble creation. Fear The Sword NBA Call-Up (2024)
Feron Hunt Slashing Interior Wing (1.05) 20.4 Medium (1.1) 10.8 7.2 2.0 1.2 48.97 Hunt supplied athleticism and interior pressure as a late-season wing addition, attacking the rim rather than relying on perimeter volume. His five-game sample was small, so the statistical profile should be read cautiously; contemporary reporting mainly framed him as a versatile forward with prior G League and NBA experience who could add size and athletic finishing. The NBA G League —
Dexter Dennis Defensive Transition Wing (1.05) 29.0 Medium (1.1) 11.6 4.5 1.3 1.8 44.35 Dennis was used as an athletic two-way wing whose value extended beyond his scoring, particularly in transition and perimeter defense. He arrived from Texas after spending part of the season with Dallas, and his pre-Cleveland G League production already showed the rebounding and defensive-activity profile that made him useful in a high-minute rotation role. The NBA G League —
Aleem Ford Floor-Spacing Forward (1.05) 27.9 Medium (1.1) 11.5 3.8 1.0 1.2 40.43 Ford functioned as a spacing-oriented forward who could stretch the defense without abandoning rebounding duties. His seven three-point attempts per game in this sample show how heavily the offense used him as a perimeter outlet, while his earlier G League track record established him as a dependable rotation forward rather than a pure shooting specialist. Malik Fitts Physical Secondary Forward (1.05) 25.6 Medium (1.1) 8.6 4.7 1.2 0.9 32.34 Fitts brought a physical secondary-forward presence, capable of scoring inside while contributing on the glass and making connective passes. A January performance against Westchester captured that broader role: he produced 19 points, 11 rebounds, six assists and two steals in 44 minutes, showing that his utility extended well beyond spot scoring. The NBA G League —
Devontae Shuler Downhill Bench Creator (1.0) 19.8 Low (1.0) 9.3 2.0 2.5 0.8 29.20 Shuler supplied aggressive second-unit creation, with enough scoring burst to briefly carry an offense when his minutes expanded. His 33-point game against Westchester included 21 points in the first half, a useful snapshot of the instant-offense role he could provide without being the team’s primary organizer. The NBA G League —
Jon Elmore Veteran Half-Court Organizer (1.05) 23.5 Medium (1.1) 6.3 2.5 3.0 1.1 27.09 Elmore served as a veteran stabilizer after arriving in a midseason trade, giving Cleveland another experienced ball-handler and half-court organizer. His brief four-game stint was built around passing and secondary creation rather than high-volume scoring, with his 3.0 assists helping settle an otherwise frequently changing rotation. The NBA G League —
Justin Powell Secondary Ball-Movement Guard (1.0) 22.7 Medium (1.1) 6.3 2.4 1.3 0.8 23.76 Powell filled a connective guard role, moving the ball and taking open perimeter opportunities without demanding a large share of possessions. His 16-point performance against Maine included 7-of-13 shooting, while later in the season he showed the passing side of his game with six assists and three steals in a heavy 38-minute workload. The NBA G League —
Gabe Osabuohien Defensive Connector Forward (1.0) 13.3 Low (1.0) 3.2 3.9 3.0 1.4 23.00 Osabuohien’s role was built around defensive positioning, passing and team cohesion rather than shot creation. His reputation within the organization went well beyond the box score: independent reporting described him as the team’s “heart and soul,” while his peers selected him for the league’s Sportsmanship Award. Olin Carter III Perimeter Shot Specialist (1.0) 12.4 Low (1.0) 6.6 1.6 0.8 0.3 18.60 Carter operated as a perimeter-oriented reserve whose main offensive value came from spacing and selective shot creation. Independent season coverage was limited, but his midseason trade to Sioux Falls reflected a roster role that was more situational than foundational for Cleveland. —
Tray Maddox Athletic Rotation Guard (1.0) 16.8 Low (1.0) 6.1 1.3 1.4 0.5 18.60 Maddox joined Cleveland at the trade deadline after spending the season with Osceola, giving the Charge another athletic guard for the back end of the rotation. His role was necessarily limited by the short stint, with the emphasis on energy, ball movement and perimeter depth rather than primary creation. The NBA G League —
Dibaji Walker Energy Scoring Reserve (1.0) 11.3 Low (1.0) 4.7 1.6 0.8 1.0 16.20 Walker provided an energetic reserve option who could change the tempo when inserted into the game. His 15-point, five-assist performance in 25 minutes showed the offensive playmaking he could supply in short bursts, while his path onto the roster through Cleveland’s local open tryout underscored his developmental role. —
Brian Bowen II Depth Forward Cutter (1.0) 10.8 Low (1.0) 3.8 2.0 0.5 0.3 13.20 Bowen occupied a depth-forward role after joining Cleveland when Pete Nance received his NBA call-up. The opportunity was brief, and he was waived after four appearances; contemporary reporting described him as a physical forward with previous NBA and G League experience rather than a major offensive piece. —
Scotty Hopson Veteran Emergency Wing (1.0) 8.3 Low (1.0) 3.7 1.7 0.0 1.0 12.80 Hopson was a short-term emergency addition during a hardship stretch, bringing years of international and G League experience to a depleted perimeter group. His Cleveland stint lasted only three games before he was waived, making his role more about immediate roster coverage than sustained rotation responsibility. —
