The Austin Toros’ 2009-10 season delivered another strong regular-season performance under Quin Snyder, as the club finished 32-18 and secured second place in the Western Conference. Austin featured one of the league’s most efficient offenses, led by the backcourt scoring of Curtis Jerrells and the all-around production of NBA call-up candidate Alonzo Gee. Veteran big man Dwayne Jones anchored the interior with a dominant rebounding season, helping the Toros remain among the D-League’s top contenders throughout the year. The team advanced past the Dakota Wizards in the opening round of the playoffs before being eliminated by the eventual champion-caliber Rio Grande Valley Vipers in a competitive semifinal series. While a return trip to the Finals proved elusive, the 2009-10 season was another step in Austin’s rise as one of the NBA D-League’s most consistently successful franchises.
