The 1969–70 New York Nets were driven by Levern Tart’s high-volume scoring and efficient shooting, with Bill Melchionni providing steady playmaking and offensive organization from the backcourt. Les Hunter and Ed Johnson supplied strong interior production, combining scoring and rebounding to support the attack. The team relied on balanced contributions across positions, with rebounding and ball movement helping offset inconsistent perimeter efficiency.
Note: During the 1969–70 ABA season, the team was still known as the New York Nets, based on Long Island (Island Garden, Hempstead, NY).
