The 1994–95 Houston Rockets were built around Hakeem Olajuwon’s elite two-way impact, with the star center leading the offense while anchoring the defense. Vernon Maxwell and Clyde Drexler supplied secondary scoring and perimeter playmaking, and Robert Horry contributed across multiple areas as a versatile forward. Houston combined efficient offense, strong rebounding, and balanced ball movement, though their regular-season defense was closer to average than elite.

PLAYER NAME ROLE TIER MPG USAGE TIER PPG RPG APG STK (SPG + BPG) IMPACT INDEX NOTES AWARDS
Hakeem Olajuwon Starter/Star [1.1] 39.6 High [1.2] 27.8 10.8 3.5 5.2 124.87 Houston’s offense still revolved around Olajuwon’s post game, but his defensive influence may have been even more important. He combined elite scoring with 3.4 blocks per game, regularly erasing mistakes behind an aggressive perimeter defense while finishing fifth in MVP voting. All-Star, All-NBA Third Team, MVP Voting (5th), DPOY Voting (3rd)
Clyde Drexler Starter/Star [1.1] 37.1 High [1.2] 21.4 7.0 4.4 2.5 92.40 Playing alongside Olajuwon after arriving midseason, Drexler gave Houston another primary creator. His downhill drives, transition play and secondary shot creation added a dimension the defending champions had lacked earlier in the year. All-NBA Third Team, MVP Voting (14th)
Otis Thorpe Starter/Star [1.1] 33.0 Medium [1.1] 13.3 8.9 1.6 1.0 59.05 A rugged interior finisher, Thorpe handled much of the physical work in Houston’s frontcourt.
