In his sophomore season (2012–13), Caldwell-Pope led the Bulldogs in scoring and rebounding, averaging 18.5 points and 7.1 rebounds per game. His performance earned him the SEC Player of the Year award and a spot on the All-SEC First Team. Following this standout season, he declared for the 2013 NBA Draft and was selected 8th overall by the Detroit Pistons.
