Team Impact Index

Player Name Role Tier MPG Usage Tier PPG RPG APG STK (SPG + BPG) Impact Index* Notes Awards
Dan Issel Interior Anchor / Primary Big 35.8 High Usage (scoring + rebounder) 23.8 8.8 2.4 1.8 (1.1 + 0.7) (23.8 + 8.8 + 2.4 + 1.8)/2 ≈ 18.4 Issel was the workhorse big man for Denver, leading the frontcourt with strong scoring and rebounding. He had just come over (or re-signed) for that season and grounded the offense inside.  (No NBA award for this season, but later became a franchise legend)
Alex English Secondary Scoring Wing 36.5 Medium-High Usage (scorer) 21.3 9.4 3.4 2.4 (1.2 + 1.2) (21.3 + 9.4 + 3.4 + 2.4)/2 ≈ 18.25 English was a very efficient scorer, especially inside the arc. He provided high-volume offense and reliable minutes, acting as a complement to Issel more than a pure playmaker.
George McGinnis Power Forward Scorer 31.6 Medium Usage (scoring + creation) 15.6 10.3 4.9 1.9 (1.5 + 0.4) (15.6 + 10.3 + 4.9 + 1.9)/2 ≈ 16.35 McGinnis gave Denver a strong scoring and rebounding presence at the power forward spot. His ability to pass (4.9 ast) shows he wasn’t just scoring — he played a versatile frontcourt role. (Prior to season: ABA MVP in earlier years)
Bob Wilkerson 3-and-Mid Two-Way Wing 31.7 Medium Usage (balanced) 13.8 4.2 3.2 1.6 (1.2 + 0.4) (13.8 + 4.2 + 3.2 + 1.6)/2 ≈ 11.4 Wilkerson played significant minutes as a two-way wing — he contributed in scoring, some playmaking, and defensively held up with steals + blocks.
David Thompson Explosive Scoring Guard 31.8 High Usage (scorer) 21.5 4.5 3.7 2.0 (1.0 + 1.0) (21.5 + 4.5 + 3.7 + 2.0)/2 ≈ 15.85 Thompson (still very young) was a high-volume, explosive scorer. His athleticism and shot-making paced much of the Nuggets’ offense, giving a dynamic guard threat.
John Roche Primary Playmaker / Combo Guard 27.9 Medium Usage (assists + scoring) 11.4 1.4 4.9 1.1 (1.0 + 0.1) (11.4 + 1.4 + 4.9 + 1.1)/2 ≈ 9.4 As the main ball-distributor off the guard spot, Roche orchestrated the offense, tying the second unit together and enabling others to operate.
Tom Boswell Frontcourt Role Player 29.0 Low-Medium Usage 11.3 6.3 2.6 0.7 (0.3 + 0.4) (11.3 + 6.3 + 2.6 + 0.7)/2 ≈ 10.45 Boswell provided solid frontcourt depth — contributing with scoring, rebounds, and occasional defensive plays.
George Johnson Supporting Big / Energy Forward 25.8 Low-Medium Usage 10.2 7.8 2.1 2.0 (1.1 + 0.9) (10.2 + 7.8 + 2.1 + 2.0)/2 ≈ 11.05 Johnson gave Denver athleticism in the frontcourt, helping with rebounding, defense, and giving consistent minutes as a secondary big.
Charlie Scott Scoring Guard Off-Ball 27.0 Medium Usage (scoring) 9.3 2.4 3.6 1.0 (0.7 + 0.3) (9.3 + 2.4 + 3.6 + 1.0)/2 ≈ 8.15 Scott offered scoring and experience in the backcourt; although not the primary creator, he added veteran scoring punch.
Anthony Roberts Young Wing Rotation 21.1 Low Usage 7.7 4.7 0.9 0.7 (0.6 + 0.1) (7.7 + 4.7 + 0.9 + 0.7)/2 ≈ 7.0 Roberts played limited minutes but contributed as a developing wing, giving occasional scoring and helping on the boards.
Glen Gondrezick Depth Wing 17.3 Very Low Usage 6.6 4.4 1.4 1.5 (1.2 + 0.3) (6.6 + 4.4 + 1.4 + 1.5)/2 ≈ 6.95 A reserve forward who chipped in when needed, especially in moderate minutes, helping with rebounds and defense.
Kim Hughes Backup Center 17.3 Very Low Usage 3.1 4.7 1.1 2.0 (0.9 + 1.1) (3.1 + 4.7 + 1.1 + 2.0)/2 ≈ 5.45 Hughes gave the team a backup big presence, contributing defensively (blocks) and in short stints on the boards.
Gary Garland Relief Guard 14.2 Minimal Usage 4.3 1.8 1.9 0.8 (0.7 + 0.1) (4.3 + 1.8 + 1.9 + 0.8)/2 ≈ 4.4 Garland provided brief guard minutes, primarily in relief, with modest scoring and playmaking.
Bo Ellis Depth Forward / Energy Big 10.5 Minimal Usage 3.4 2.4 0.6 0.7 (0.2 + 0.5) (3.4 + 2.4 + 0.6 + 0.7)/2 ≈ 3.55 Ellis played very limited minutes but contributed energy and hustle when on the court.
Arvid Kramer Emergency Backup Center 5.6 Minimal Usage 2.0 1.5 0.4 0.6 (0.0 + 0.6) (2.0 + 1.5 + 0.4 + 0.6)/2 ≈ 2.25 Kramer contributed very sparingly, likely only in low-leverage moments or when depth was needed.
