Albuquerque Thunderbirds 2005-06 Roster and Statistics

The Albuquerque Thunderbirds’ 2005-06 season marked the arrival of professional developmental basketball in New Mexico as the franchise relocated from Huntsville and began a new chapter under a new identity. Any transition year brings uncertainty, but the Thunderbirds quickly emerged as one of the NBDL’s strongest teams, combining experienced players with prospects eager to earn NBA attention. Guard Will Conroy became one of the league’s standout performers, directing the offense and establishing himself as a legitimate NBA candidate, while forward Billy Thomas supplied veteran production and perimeter scoring. Albuquerque spent much of the season near the top of the standings and carried that success into the postseason, ultimately capturing the NBDL championship in its first year under the Thunderbirds name. For a relocated franchise, it was about as successful a fresh start as possible, immediately giving Albuquerque a title-winning team to embrace.
