The Canton Charge continued their run of success in 2018-19, finishing 30-20 and securing another postseason appearance in a season defined by a blend of experienced G League veterans and emerging prospects. The backcourt duo of Brandon Paul and Billy Preston helped drive much of the offense, while the Charge also benefited from the presence of two-way players and Cavaliers affiliates moving between the NBA and G League throughout the year. Canton was particularly effective on the defensive end, consistently ranking among the league’s tougher teams to score against and relying on a disciplined, team-oriented approach rather than a single dominant star. Although the season ended with a first-round playoff exit, the Charge once again demonstrated the organizational stability that had become a hallmark of the franchise, recording their eighth consecutive winning season and remaining a regular fixture in the playoff picture.

PLAYER NAME ROLE TIER MPG USAGE TIER PPG RPG APG STK IMPACT INDEX NOTES AWARDS
Jaron Blossomgame Primary Scoring Wing (1.1) 32.7 High (1.2) 17.3 7.2 2.0 1.9 74.98 As a physical scoring wing, Blossomgame gave Canton a downhill option who could also space the floor and defend multiple positions. His move from Austin to Canton in November was followed by a larger offensive role, while his 7.2 rebounds and 1.1 blocks show how much work he did beyond scoring. None
Bonzie Colson Two-Way Frontcourt Focal Point (1.1) 28.9 High (1.2) 15.5 7.9 1.4 2.1 71.02 Colson played with the all-around aggression that had made him a do-everything forward at Notre Dame, combining interior activity with enough perimeter shooting to stretch defenses. His Canton run ended with a two-way NBA opportunity after reporting highlighted his 15.5 points, 7.7 rebounds and 1.5 blocks across 23 games. (The Washington Post) None
Kobi Simmons Lead Shot Creator (1.1) 32.0 High (1.2) 17.2 3.7 3.5 1.3 67.85 Simmons operated as Canton’s primary perimeter creator, comfortable initiating offense while carrying a heavy scoring load. His January NBA call-up reflected that role, with Cleveland using him after he had become one of Canton’s main offensive organizers and averaged more than 16 points with nearly four assists. (NBA.com) NBA Call-Up (2019)
Jacorey Williams Starting Interior Scorer (1.05) 28.8 High (1.2) 15.2 7.0 2.3 1.6 65.77 Williams was Canton’s steady interior scoring presence, relying heavily on efficient two-point work rather than perimeter volume. His 55.8% shooting and 7.0 rebounds fit the profile of a frontcourt finisher who could generate offense without needing to dominate the ball. None
Scoochie Smith Franchise Floor General (1.05) 33.2 Medium (1.1) 12.2 4.6 6.3 1.9 57.75 Smith functioned as the Charge’s primary table-setter, with his passing responsibilities defining his value more than his scoring. His Dayton background already showed a strong leadership profile, and the Canton role allowed that floor-general skill set to translate into a team-high 6.3 assists. (OurSports Central) None
Levi Randolph Secondary Two-Way Creator (1.05) 31.4 Medium (1.1) 14.6 4.1 2.0 1.3 50.82 Randolph provided a veteran wing presence who could score without monopolizing possessions and still contribute defensively. The combination of 14.6 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.2 steals fits the versatile two-way profile that made him a dependable piece during a 50-game Canton season. (Kiwix Server) None
Deng Adel Stretch Wing Connector (1.05) 30.3 Medium (1.1) 12.1 6.1 2.2 1.1 49.67 Adel gave Canton a rangy forward who could move between wing and frontcourt duties while supplying secondary playmaking. His January move to Cleveland followed a G League season in which he split time between Canton and Raptors 905, reflecting the two-way value teams saw in his size and perimeter skill. (NBA.com) NBA Call-Up (2019)
Sir’Dominic Pointer Defensive Utility Forward (1.05) 23.3 Medium (1.1) 9.7 4.6 2.0 3.1 44.81 Pointer’s identity was built around defensive disruption rather than shot volume. He could guard across the forward spots, generate steals and protect the rim, making his 1.8 steals and 1.3 blocks particularly representative of the defensive role he filled for Canton. (CBS Sports Golf) None
Malik Newman Reserve Shot-Making Guard (1.05) 24.5 Medium (1.1) 12.0 3.0 2.1 0.4 40.43 Newman supplied instant perimeter offense in a more limited role, with his scoring coming largely through self-created shots and three-point attempts. His Canton stint followed a January trade from Sioux Falls, giving the Charge another young guard capable of creating offense when the lineup needed it. None
Emanuel Terry Rim-Running Defensive Big (1.0) 21.7 Medium (1.1) 8.1 6.4 0.6 2.6 38.94 Terry’s game centered on vertical finishing, rebounding and rim protection rather than perimeter creation. His Division II background was built around exceptional interior efficiency and shot blocking, traits that carried into his early professional role before a midseason trade opened the door to an NBA opportunity. (LMU Railsplitters) NBA Call-Up (2019)
Jalen Jones Frontcourt Scoring Reserve (1.0) 25.5 Medium (1.1) 9.3 4.0 2.3 1.3 37.18 Jones was a mobile frontcourt scorer who could contribute as a face-up option and passer rather than functioning solely as a traditional post player. His 25.5 minutes in a tiny four-game sample suggest a temporary rotation role, and Cleveland later moved on from him when its two-way roster needs changed. (NBA.com) None
John Holland Veteran Perimeter Specialist (1.05) 28.5 Medium (1.1) 14.0 0.0 0.5 1.5 36.96 Holland’s brief Canton sample came in a veteran scoring role, with most of his offensive value coming from perimeter shot creation rather than rebounding or playmaking. His 14.0 points in only two games should therefore be treated as a short stint rather than a full-season representation. (NBA.com) None
Billy Preston Stretch Frontcourt Reserve (1.0) 18.5 Low (1.0) 6.1 3.8 0.7 0.8 22.80 Preston entered the professional season as a highly regarded young forward whose development was still unfinished. At 6-foot-10, he offered unusual perimeter potential for his size, but his limited Canton sample and eventual move to Erie reflected a developmental rather than established rotation role. (Kansas City Star) McDonald’s All-American (2017)
Muhammad-Ali Abdur-Rahkman Defensive Connector Guard (1.0) 20.1 Low (1.0) 6.4 1.9 1.5 0.6 20.80 Abdur-Rahkman brought a low-maintenance guard profile built around perimeter defense, ball movement and dependable decision-making. Contemporary reporting on his final Michigan season emphasized his clamp-down defense and unusually strong assist-to-turnover profile, traits that translated naturally into a complementary Canton role. (University of Michigan Athletics) None
Chance Comanche Interior Finishing Reserve (1.0) 13.8 Low (1.0) 4.7 3.9 0.5 0.9 20.00 Comanche was used primarily as a traditional interior finisher and rebounder after arriving from Memphis during the season. His low-volume role kept his offensive responsibilities narrow, with 3.9 rebounds and 0.7 blocks providing more evidence of his frontcourt utility than his scoring. None
Phillip Carr Energy Frontcourt Reserve (1.0) 11.6 Low (1.0) 3.2 2.9 0.2 0.4 13.40 Carr worked as a depth forward whose main opportunities came through rebounding activity and physical play rather than designed offense. His 13-game Canton sample and modest offensive workload point to a situational rotation role. (The NBA G League) None
Nigel Johnson Emergency Guard Reserve (1.0) 9.7 Low (1.0) 4.3 1.0 0.7 0.7 13.40 Johnson’s Canton appearance was a very short late-season stint, leaving limited contemporary independent coverage from which to establish a detailed role beyond reserve guard minutes. His small sample suggests an emergency backcourt option rather than a regular rotation piece. None
Isaac Hamilton Perimeter Depth Shooter (1.0) 10.3 Low (1.0) 2.5 1.7 1.2 0.5 11.80 Hamilton occupied a low-minute perimeter depth role, with his previous UCLA profile centered on scoring from the wing and his Canton workload reflecting a more selective offensive assignment. Limited contemporary independent coverage was available for his 2018-19 Charge stint. (The NBA G League) None
Shawndre Jones Backup Playmaking Guard (1.0) 10.0 Low (1.0) 3.7 0.0 1.0 0.7 10.80 Jones had only three Canton appearances, making this one of the smallest samples on the roster. His established profile was that of a scoring point guard, but the Charge used him only briefly, so the available evidence supports a depth playmaking role rather than a larger offensive assignment. None
