The Canton Charge broke through as one of the NBA D-League’s top teams in 2012-13, finishing 34-16 and claiming the Central Division title before advancing to the league finals. After a solid inaugural season in Ohio, Canton emerged as a genuine contender behind a balanced roster that combined established D-League talent with players on the edge of NBA opportunities. Chris Quinn provided veteran leadership and perimeter scoring, while Kevin Jones developed into one of the league’s premier forwards, earning All-NBA D-League honors. The Charge carried that momentum through the playoffs with series victories over the Sioux Falls Skyforce and Tulsa 66ers before falling to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers in the championship round. Despite the disappointing finish, the season marked the franchise’s deepest postseason run to that point and established Canton among the league’s strongest organizations.
