The 1998–99 Dallas Mavericks were led by Michael Finley, who carried the scoring load while also contributing as a playmaker and rebounder. Rookie Dirk Nowitzki began carving out a complementary offensive role, and Steve Nash handled much of the team’s ball distribution from the backcourt. Dallas played at a relatively fast pace and showed balanced offensive contributions, but inconsistent defense and inefficient overall play contributed to another losing season.
