The 1976–77 New Orleans Jazz relied heavily on Pete Maravich, whose scoring and playmaking made him the clear focal point of the offense. Truck Robinson emerged as a productive interior scorer and rebounder, while Aaron James and Ron Boone provided valuable secondary scoring from the perimeter. The Jazz played an offense-first style with multiple scoring options, but below-average rebounding and defensive performance limited their ability to consistently translate offensive production into wins.
Note: The franchise was still known as the New Orleans Jazz during this season.
