The San Antonio Spurs 1977–78 season was fueled by George Gervin’s league-leading scoring, while Larry Kenon emerged as a premier all-around forward with major contributions in scoring, rebounding, and playmaking. Billy Paultz anchored the middle with efficient interior scoring and rim protection, and Mike Gale provided steady backcourt distribution. San Antonio combined one of the NBA’s most explosive offenses with balanced frontcourt production to win the Central Division, although its defense was less dominant than its attack.
