Scouting Report

Pacôme Dadiet is one of those wings whose value becomes clearer the longer you watch because so much of what he does happens between the obvious plays. He has a smooth, economical style, rarely overdribbles, and seems comfortable letting the game come to him before attacking the gap that’s actually available. What stands out is how he flows from catch to drive in one motion. He doesn’t waste time sizing defenders up; if the closeout is high, he’s going downhill immediately, and if the lane collapses, he’ll keep the ball moving rather than forcing a difficult finish. There are flashes of secondary playmaking, particularly when he snakes a pick-and-roll just long enough to draw the weak-side tag before slipping a pass to the corner, but his reads are generally at their best when they’re simple and made on the move. The jump shot looks repeatable, although there are stretches where he can drift through possessions instead of demanding touches, allowing games to pass without leaving much offensive imprint. That’s probably the biggest question. Defensively, he covers ground well and has the length to bother shooters after late recoveries, but what I like most is that he doesn’t chase blocks or steals that pull the entire defense out of shape. He stays connected, rotates from the low side with good timing, and is willing to absorb contact instead of opening his hips too early. Stronger forwards can dislodge him around the basket, and quicker guards occasionally expose his first step when he’s isolated in space, but his positioning often keeps those possessions from becoming clean advantages. To me, his ideal role is alongside a primary creator where his spacing, straight-line driving and connective decisions become force multipliers rather than asking him to manufacture offense from scratch. There are similarities to Nicolas Batum in the understated way he fills possessions without dominating the ball, while parts of his offensive rhythm resemble Dorian Finney-Smith when he’s attacking aggressive closeouts and making the next simple read instead of searching for highlight plays.
