Team Overview
- Head Coach: Kurt Rambis (Interim)
- Record: 31–19 (Lockout-shortened 50-game season)
- Division: 3rd in Pacific
- Playoffs: Lost in Western Conference Semifinals (to San Antonio Spurs, 0–4)
- Notable: This was a transitional season. The Lakers traded for Glen Rice and added Dennis Rodman mid-season, but chemistry was shaky. Kobe became a full-time starter and showed his scoring potential. Shaq continued his dominance, but the Lakers were swept by the eventual champion Spurs in the playoffs.
