Updates:

I noticed Jaime Jaquez Jr. has lost weight during the offseason before the start of the 2024-25 season. He didn’t need to drop weight if he was going to be a power forward. It’s unclear how the Heat will use him in his second season after becoming slimmer. The Heat used him as a shooting guard at times during 2023-24, so it’s possible they look to use him as an SG/SF swingman and not even at power forward at all, though I think that it is unlikely. The dilemma the Heat have this year is needing to see what Jaime Jaquez Jr. and Nikola Jovic can be. If they view Jaquez Jr. as a swingman now, they may bring him off the bench to be the 6th man firepower for the team as Jovic doesn’t have that flexibility. 9/15/2024

Jaime Jaquez Jr. is arguably the most exciting thing the Heat have going for them at the moment. They will continue to hope Tyler Herro develops rather than plateaus, but he has played in the NBA for five seasons already and we have likely seen close to his maximum potential. Jaquez Jr. is entering his second season after a compelling rookie season that had him heavily used in the playoffs because Spoelstra was as intrigued by him as I was. Could Jaquez Jr. be good enough to allow the Heat to steal a series? It didn’t happen last season, but it could in 2024-25. 9/14/2024
