The College Park Skyhawks’ 2021-22 season reflected the increasingly important role the franchise played within Atlanta’s player development structure. Rather than being defined by a single standout performer, the roster featured a steady stream of young prospects and NBA assignments moving through the lineup as the Hawks dealt with injuries and roster changes at the next level. Sharife Cooper drew much of the attention, showcasing the passing creativity and scoring instincts that had made him a highly regarded prospect, while Skylar Mays continued to prove himself as a reliable contributor whenever he returned to College Park. The Skyhawks remained competitive throughout the year and reached the playoffs, but the season is perhaps best remembered for the opportunities it provided several young players to expand their roles and earn consideration for NBA minutes.

|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Jalen Johnson | Primary Point-Forward Engine (1.1) | 37.0 | High | 20.1 | 11.8 | 4.1 | 3.0 | 102.96 | Point-forward duties gave Johnson unusual freedom for a rookie, with his size allowing him to rebound, push in transition and create from the frontcourt. During the Showcase stretch, he erupted for 32 points, eight rebounds, six assists, three steals and three blocks against Raptors 905, reinforcing the sense that College Park was using him as much more than a conventional forward. Jalen Johnson impresses this week in two College Park wins | — |
| Sharife Cooper | Lead Shot-Creating Point Guard (1.05) | 29.9 | High | 19.2 | 3.0 | 5.5 | 1.1 | 72.58 | Cooper functioned as the primary ball-handler, attacking off the dribble and creating the team’s half-court offense. His December surge included three consecutive 27-point games and a 33-point, four-assist performance, while his frequent movement between Atlanta and College Park made the developmental responsibility particularly important. Hawks’ Sharife Cooper: Back in G League | — |
| Onyeka Okongwu | Rim-Protecting Interior Anchor (1.05) | 24.0 | Low | 10.0 | 15.0 | 2.0 | 4.0 | 65.10 | Okongwu’s one-game sample was built around interior dominance: he controlled the glass, protected the rim and finished efficiently around the basket. The appearance was also significant because it came immediately after his recovery from shoulder surgery, making the assignment more about re-establishing his physical game than expanding his offensive role. Hawks’ Onyeka Okongwu undergoes surgery to repair torn labrum | — |
| Skylar Mays | Two-Way Backcourt Organizer (1.05) | 33.6 | Medium | 17.3 | 4.1 | 4.0 | 1.9 | 63.06 | Mays brought a mature, steadying presence to a guard group built around younger creators, combining secondary playmaking with perimeter scoring. His 22-point, seven-rebound, seven-assist showing against Raptors 905 illustrated how comfortably he could take on expanded offensive responsibility without abandoning his connective role. Skylar Mays goes to the Atlanta Hawks: Here’s what they’re getting | — |
| Cat Barber | Veteran Pick-and-Roll Conductor (1.05) | 26.4 | High | 13.4 | 4.1 | 5.6 | 0.5 | 59.47 | Barber was the veteran organizer of the backcourt, probing defenses with the ball and consistently setting the table for teammates. His Showcase performance included a 20-point, 10-rebound, 10-assist triple-double, and his play earned an All-Showcase Team selection before his NBA call-up. Hawks Sign Cat Barber and Malik Ellison to 10-day Contracts | NBA G League All-Showcase Team (2021) |
| Langston Galloway | Veteran Perimeter Stabilizer (1.05) | 33.0 | High | 12.0 | 3.0 | 7.0 | 1.0 | 57.96 | Galloway arrived as an experienced NBA guard rather than a developmental prospect, giving College Park a veteran ball-handler who could immediately organize possessions. His single-game sample was aggressive from three and unusually playmaking-oriented, but it is too small to support a broader conclusion about his sustained role. College Park Skyhawks Claim Guard Langston Galloway Off Waivers | — |
| Justin Tillman | Interior Scoring Specialist (1.05) | 22.0 | Medium | 13.1 | 7.6 | 0.5 | 1.0 | 51.28 | Tillman operated as a physical interior scorer and offensive-rebounding threat, giving the Skyhawks a dependable release valve near the basket. His 24-point, 17-rebound Winter Showcase performance against Memphis captured the blend of touch and second-chance production that defined his frontcourt value. 2021 Winter Showcase Day 1 Updates | — |
| DaQuan Jeffries | Three-and-D Wing Finisher (1.05) | 26.6 | Medium | 15.4 | 2.4 | 1.5 | 2.1 | 49.43 | Jeffries played the classic wing-finisher role, attacking selectively while providing considerable value from the perimeter and as a disruptive defender. His 48.0% three-point shooting made the floor wider for College Park’s creators, while his defensive activity helped explain the high level of trust reflected in seven starts. Memphis Grizzlies sign DaQuan Jeffries to 10-day contract | — |
| Malik Ellison | Energy Wing Connector (1.05) | 29.6 | Medium | 10.6 | 5.1 | 1.1 | 1.7 | 38.85 | Ellison’s value came from his energy and versatility rather than from being a possession-dominating scorer. He could defend across wing assignments, rebound from the perimeter and keep the offense moving, which helped him become one of the Skyhawks’ early-season call-up candidates. Malik Ellison hopes long, winding road takes him to NBA | — |
| A.J. Lawson | Transition Wing Runner (1.0) | 24.9 | Medium | 7.6 | 5.5 | 0.9 | 2.1 | 32.20 | Lawson supplied athletic wing depth, with his best value coming from running the floor, rebounding outside his position and pressuring the ball. The 24.9-minute workload shows he was more than a spot shooter, although the modest offensive usage kept him in a supporting rather than featured role. | — |
| Jahlil Tripp | Defensive Forward Reserve (1.0) | 14.0 | Low | 8.0 | 4.0 | 1.0 | 1.0 | 28.00 | Tripp’s tiny sample points to a low-usage forward role centered on physical defense, rebounding and opportunistic finishing. With only one documented appearance, the evidence supports describing a situational reserve rather than projecting a larger offensive responsibility. | — |
| Johnny Hamilton | Vertical Rim Runner (1.0) | 15.9 | Low | 6.1 | 4.3 | 0.5 | 1.6 | 25.00 | Hamilton gave the second unit a true interior target, operating around the rim and using his size as a finishing and shot-blocking tool. His 7-foot frame and efficient 63.3% field-goal shooting fit naturally with a reserve center role that did not require him to create offense. Johnny Hamilton player profile | — |
| Uchenna Iroegbu | Change-of-Pace Backup Guard (1.0) | 10.6 | Low | 6.0 | 0.6 | 2.0 | 1.4 | 20.00 | Iroegbu provided short-burst guard minutes with an emphasis on pressure, passing and defensive activity. His 1.2 steals-plus-blocks figure shows the defensive disruption that accompanied a modest offensive workload, while his three-point attempts gave the reserve unit another perimeter outlet. | — |
| Ibi Watson | Spot-Up Wing Shooter (1.0) | 20.3 | Low | 5.7 | 2.6 | 0.7 | 0.5 | 19.00 | Watson’s role was primarily spacing-oriented, with the wing using catch-and-shoot opportunities rather than serving as a primary creator. He also showed flashes of offensive punch during the Winter Showcase, scoring 17 points against Texas while combining with Jordan Sibert for 10 made threes. 2021 Winter Showcase Day 4 Recap | — |
| Jordan Sibert | Movement Shooting Specialist (1.0) | 15.3 | Low | 4.7 | 1.4 | 1.1 | 0.4 | 15.20 | Sibert functioned as a floor-spacing specialist whose main offensive purpose was to punish defenses for helping elsewhere. His low-usage profile fits a reserve shooter, and the Winter Showcase provided a clear example when he and Ibi Watson combined for 10 three-pointers against Texas. 2021 Winter Showcase Day 4 Recap | — |
| Tyler Hagedorn | Stretch-Four Reserve (1.0) | 5.0 | Low | 0.0 | 1.0 | 0.0 | 0.0 | 2.00 | Hagedorn had essentially no usable offensive sample in this stint. He entered the season as College Park’s second overall G League draft selection, but his documented appearance was limited to five minutes, so the appropriate evaluation is simply that of a deep reserve rather than an established rotation contributor. | Skylar Mays | Two-Way Backcourt Organizer (1.1) | 34.0 | High (1.2) | 23.0 | 7.0 | 8.0 | 4.0 | 110.88 | Mays took over as the lead organizer in this one-game G League appearance, showing the same calm ball-handling and shooting versatility that had helped him survive as a two-way player. His 8 assists and 4 steals point to a floor-general role rather than a pure scoring assignment, while his earlier Atlanta opportunities showed he could step into a larger creation burden when injuries opened the door. (Peachtree Hoops) | — |
| Jalen Johnson | Primary Point-Forward Engine (1.1) | 34.6 | High (1.2) | 22.5 | 11.3 | 4.4 | 2.7 | 107.98 | Johnson was given genuine point-forward freedom, using his 6-foot-9 frame to push transition, attack the rim and create from the frontcourt. College Park was deliberately used as a development environment for his feel and decision-making, and his December burst included a 32-point game with 8 rebounds, 6 assists, 3 blocks and 3 steals, showing just how broad his responsibilities had become. (Peachtree Hoops) | — |
| Cat Barber | Veteran Pick-and-Roll Conductor (1.1) | 35.5 | High (1.2) | 22.9 | 4.1 | 7.8 | 1.2 | 95.04 | Barber operated as the veteran engine of the offense, controlling tempo and creating advantages with the ball rather than simply hunting shots. His Showcase play earned him All-Showcase Team recognition, and the 20-point, 10-rebound, 10-assist performance against Texas showed how naturally his scoring and playmaking could blend when the offense ran through him. (NBA.com) | NBA G League All-Showcase Team (2021) |
| Justin Tillman | Interior Scoring Specialist (1.1) | 35.3 | Medium (1.1) | 23.5 | 11.8 | 1.1 | 1.6 | 91.96 | Tillman was the interior hub, combining powerful rebounding with efficient low-post and face-up scoring. College Park leaned on his physicality enough for him to earn an NBA call-up in December, while his VCU background as a high-volume rebounder and A-10 first-team selection fit the rugged frontcourt identity he brought to the Skyhawks. (Virginia Commonwealth University) | — |
| Sharife Cooper | Lead Shot-Creating Point Guard (1.05) | 30.2 | High (1.2) | 17.1 | 4.0 | 6.9 | 1.2 | 77.09 | Cooper was the young lead creator, using his burst to get into the lane and generate offense for others. Atlanta repeatedly moved him between the NBA roster and College Park, and the G League assignment was specifically valuable because it gave the rookie the extended on-ball reps he could not consistently find with the parent club. (CBS Sports) | — |
| Armoni Brooks | Volume Three-and-D Wing (1.0) | 29.5 | Low (1.0) | 17.0 | 7.0 | 3.0 | 5.0 | 64.00 | Brooks filled a wing role built around perimeter volume and defensive disruption. The two-game sample is too small for sweeping conclusions, but 9 three-point attempts per game and five combined steals and blocks show a player being encouraged to space the floor while remaining active defensively. | — |
| Langston Galloway | Veteran Perimeter Stabilizer (1.05) | 32.0 | Medium (1.1) | 16.4 | 5.1 | 4.2 | 1.5 | 62.83 | Galloway brought NBA experience and composure to a developmental roster, giving the Skyhawks a veteran guard capable of spacing the floor while making the extra pass. His 2021-22 stint came after years of NBA rotation work, so his value here was less about prospect development and more about stabilizing possessions and helping a young backcourt function. | — |
| Marcus Georges-Hunt | Physical Secondary Wing Creator (1.05) | 32.0 | Medium (1.1) | 13.4 | 5.3 | 2.8 | 1.6 | 53.36 | Georges-Hunt supplied a physical secondary creator’s game, able to score through contact and make plays without monopolizing the offense. College Park acquired him in January after he had been a high-scoring contributor in China’s CBA, giving the Skyhawks an experienced wing with substantially more professional mileage than most of the roster. (College Park Skyhawks) | — |
| DaQuan Jeffries | Three-and-D Wing Finisher (1.05) | 25.8 | Medium (1.1) | 14.3 | 3.9 | 1.6 | 1.7 | 49.66 | Jeffries functioned as a low-maintenance scoring wing whose value came from attacking closeouts, spacing the floor and creating defensive pressure. His 48.0% three-point shooting in the documented sample made him a natural complement to the Skyhawks’ ball-dominant guards, while his NBA call-up in January reflected the usefulness of that archetype. (SI) | — |
| A.J. Lawson | Transition Wing Runner (1.05) | 31.8 | Medium (1.1) | 11.8 | 6.3 | 1.6 | 1.7 | 49.43 | Lawson played as an athletic two-way wing who could run the floor, crash the glass and defend with length without demanding many possessions. His 26 starts and 31.8 minutes show that College Park trusted him as a substantial rotation piece, while the combination of 6.3 rebounds and 1.3 steals captures the broader utility beyond his perimeter shooting. | — |
| Malik Ellison | Energy Wing Connector (1.0) | 21.3 | Medium (1.1) | 6.8 | 4.7 | 0.8 | 1.2 | 29.70 | Ellison’s role was built around connective work: defending wings, rebounding from the perimeter and attacking selectively rather than forcing offense. He became one of College Park’s early NBA call-ups, and his 10-day contract reflected how his size and versatility translated as useful depth around a more creator-heavy backcourt. (NBA.com) | NBA Call-Up (2021) |
| Ibi Watson | Spot-Up Wing Shooter (1.0) | 18.0 | Low (1.0) | 7.6 | 2.8 | 1.0 | 0.5 | 23.80 | Watson served primarily as a floor-spacing wing, with his offensive value tied to catch-and-shoot opportunities and selective secondary attacks. The Skyhawks’ later player-development plans continued to retain him alongside Lawson and Ellison, a sign that his shooting profile fit the roster’s need for complementary perimeter pieces. (College Park Skyhawks) | — |
| Jahlil Tripp | Defensive Forward Reserve (1.0) | 19.1 | Low (1.0) | 5.3 | 4.6 | 2.1 | 1.0 | 26.00 | Tripp’s contribution was centered on frontcourt defense, rebounding and keeping possessions moving rather than high-volume scoring. With only a modest offensive burden, his 2.1 assists per game relative to his usage suggest a useful connector role from the forward spot. | — |
| Jordan Sibert | Movement Shooting Specialist (1.0) | 15.7 | Low (1.0) | 6.7 | 1.8 | 1.0 | 0.7 | 20.40 | Sibert was deployed primarily to stretch defenses, with most of his offensive value coming from perimeter shooting rather than self-created offense. His limited minutes and low usage fit a classic specialist profile: provide spacing, relocate around creators and punish defensive help when the ball finds him. | — |
| Kammeon Holsey | Physical Frontcourt Reserve (1.0) | 11.1 | Low (1.0) | 4.6 | 3.1 | 0.0 | 0.4 | 16.20 | Holsey supplied veteran frontcourt depth in a short stint, leaning on physical rebounding and efficient interior finishing. The seven-game sample makes this a narrow evaluation, but his 51.9% shooting and modest turnover load fit a reserve role built around simple, efficient possessions. (The NBA G League) | — |
| Uchenna Iroegbu | Change-of-Pace Backup Guard (1.0) | 11.6 | Low (1.0) | 2.1 | 1.3 | 2.3 | 0.8 | 13.00 | Iroegbu was a short-burst guard whose clearest responsibility was initiating offense and injecting pace when the starters rested. The low-scoring profile makes the role fairly clear: facilitate, pressure the ball and keep the second unit organized rather than hunt shots. | — |
| Elijah Millsap | Defensive Veteran Reserve (1.0) | 10.3 | Low (1.0) | 2.0 | 2.7 | 0.7 | 1.0 | 12.80 | Millsap’s brief stint was built around veteran defensive instincts and physical wing play rather than offensive creation. With only three appearances, the sample is too small to define a larger role, but the defensive activity stands out more clearly than his limited scoring responsibility. | — |
| Will Davis | Interior Depth Big (1.0) | 10.2 | Low (1.0) | 3.2 | 2.3 | 0.1 | 0.6 | 12.40 | Davis filled the low-usage interior reserve slot, doing most of his work around the basket and on the glass. His 48.5% shooting came without a three-point burden, making his role straightforward: screen, rebound and finish when the ball reached him inside. | — |
| Lamont West | Stretch-Forward Reserve (1.0) | 5.3 | Low (1.0) | 0.6 | 1.4 | 0.0 | 0.1 | 4.20 | West saw only limited minutes, so the season sample offers little evidence for a larger role. The best description is a deep frontcourt reserve whose offensive opportunity was too small to establish a meaningful scoring function. | — |

| Justin Tillman | Interior Scoring Anchor (1.1) | 36.0 | High (1.2) | 30.0 | 14.0 | 1.0 | 2.0 | 124.08 | As College Park’s interior focal point, Tillman punished Capital City inside with efficient post scoring and relentless work on the glass. His 12-for-19 shooting and two blocks fit the bigger picture of a player who had become one of the G League’s premier frontcourt producers; he entered the postseason as a First Team All-G League selection. Justin Tillman: Strong double-double in loss | All-NBA G League First Team (2022); NBA G League Performer of the Week (2022) |
| Sharife Cooper | Franchise Floor General (1.1) | 36.0 | High (1.2) | 19.0 | 3.0 | 13.0 | 0.0 | 92.40 | Cooper operated as the Skyhawks’ primary organizer, repeatedly creating advantages with the ball and keeping the offense moving even when his own jumper was inconsistent. The 13-assist performance was particularly revealing: his value in this playoff game came from controlling possessions and manufacturing opportunities for teammates as much as from his 19 points. Atlanta Hawks two-way player Sharife Cooper is developing as promised | NBA Rising Stars selection (2022) |
| Marcus Georges-Hunt | Two-Way Secondary Creator (1.05) | 38.0 | High (1.2) | 18.0 | 8.0 | 8.0 | 2.0 | 90.72 | Georges-Hunt gave College Park a veteran-sized secondary creator, functioning as a connector who could score, rebound and initiate offense from the wing. Even with a difficult 4-for-17 shooting night, his eight rebounds, eight assists and two steals kept him heavily involved and made his all-around contribution more important than the shooting line. Georgia Tech ProJackets Basketball Report | None |
| Langston Galloway | Veteran Shot-Making Guard (1.05) | 36.0 | Medium (1.1) | 14.0 | 4.0 | 4.0 | 2.0 | 55.44 | Galloway supplied veteran guard play and perimeter spacing while also helping move the ball, rather than functioning as a pure scorer. His four assists and two steals added value around a cold 5-for-14 shooting night, and the playoff setting leaned on his experience as one of the older rotation guards. Langston Galloway player profile | None |
| DaQuan Jeffries | Stretch Wing Scorer (1.05) | 24.0 | Medium (1.1) | 16.0 | 2.0 | 0.0 | 0.0 | 41.58 | Jeffries was the instant scoring punch on the wing, attacking selectively and making the most of a limited offensive workload. His 7-for-10 shooting and perfect 2-for-2 from three gave College Park efficient perimeter production, although four turnovers and four fouls limited the overall value of an otherwise sharp scoring stint. Memphis Grizzlies sign DaQuan Jeffries to 10-day contract | None |
| A.J. Lawson | Transition Finisher (1.05) | 34.0 | Medium (1.1) | 11.0 | 5.0 | 1.0 | 0.0 | 39.27 | Lawson filled the athletic wing role, providing floor-running, spot-up shooting and secondary rebounding rather than serving as a primary creator. His 3-for-5 mark from deep gave the Skyhawks useful spacing, while his 34 minutes showed how much the rotation relied on his two-way wing presence. | None |
| Malik Ellison | Energy Frontcourt Reserve (1.0) | 21.0 | Medium (1.1) | 10.0 | 4.0 | 0.0 | 2.0 | 35.20 | Ellison brought physical reserve production, attacking the basket efficiently and adding activity defensively. Coming off the bench, he went 5-for-8 and chipped in a steal and a block, a compact contribution that suited a playoff role built around energy rather than sustained offensive creation. Malik Ellison: Logs double-double in depth role | None |
| Ibi Watson | Spot-Up Wing Reserve (1.0) | 16.0 | Low (1.0) | 4.0 | 2.0 | 0.0 | 0.0 | 12.00 | Watson had a very small postseason assignment, functioning mainly as a perimeter reserve and taking only one field-goal attempt. He converted that shot and his free throw, but with just 16 minutes and limited creation responsibility, this was a narrow situational role rather than a sustained offensive assignment. | None |
