The South Bay Lakers’ 2022-23 season was driven by a roster that combined established G League talent with young players looking to force their way into the NBA picture. Guard Scotty Pippen Jr. emerged as the team’s centerpiece, putting together a standout campaign that saw him develop from a high-profile prospect into one of the league’s most productive backcourt players. South Bay also benefited from strong contributions by Cole Swider, whose outside shooting created constant matchup problems, while centers Jay Huff and Moses Brown gave the club a formidable interior presence at different points during the year. As with many Lakers-affiliated teams, assignments and transactions regularly altered the rotation, but South Bay remained a dangerous offensive group throughout the season. More than any single result, the year is remembered for the growth of Pippen and several teammates who used prominent roles to strengthen their NBA credentials.
