The Minnesota Lynx were founded in 1999 as a WNBA expansion franchise and were owned by businessman Glen Taylor through the Minnesota Timberwolves organization.
Under Taylor’s ownership, the Lynx evolved from an expansion team into a WNBA powerhouse. Led by stars such as Maya Moore, Seimone Augustus, Lindsay Whalen, Sylvia Fowles, and Rebekkah Brunson, the franchise won four WNBA championships in 2011, 2013, 2015, and 2017.

In 2025, entrepreneurs Marc Lore and Alex Rodriguez completed their acquisition of the Minnesota Timberwolves and Minnesota Lynx, ending Glen Taylor’s long tenure as owner.
The new ownership group inherited one of the WNBA’s premier franchises and has committed to continuing the organization’s tradition of excellence. The Lynx remain under the same ownership structure as the Timberwolves, with a focus on long-term investment in both teams.
