Player Archetype / Play Style

Quinten Post’s player archetype is that of a modern stretch big, a skilled seven-footer whose value comes from floor spacing, passing touch, and offensive feel more than vertical pop or switch-heavy mobility. At 7-foot-0 and about 244 pounds, he has legitimate center size, a strong frame, and enough coordination to operate comfortably as a pick-and-pop threat and half-court connector, though his defensive role is shaped by his physical limitations because he projects more as a positional interior defender who uses size and positioning around the rim than as a fast-twitch rim runner or perimeter stopper. Offensively, he fits best as a spacing center who can knock down threes, facilitate from the high post, screen, rebound, and keep the ball moving within structure, with some added value as a post scorer when he has a matchup advantage. His overall play style is built around skill and intelligence: he looks like the kind of big man who can open up an offense with shooting and passing, but his long-term ceiling depends on whether he can hold up well enough defensively when opponents force him into space. Player Insights

Quinten Post is a tall center that reminds me of Walker Kessler at first glance on the court. Post can also shoot the three ball, which Steve Kerr will love. Kerr is trying to win a championship, so he’ll be reluctant to play a rookie heavy minutes. But Trayce Jackson-Davis is only in his sophomore year, and he’s already moved on from Kevin Looney in the past. The Warriors may need to take a chance on Post and see if he can offer more upside than Looney. 2/4/2025

Quinten Post has taken over the starting center position from Trayce Jackson-Davis for the Golden State Warriors. It’s hard to say whether Post will keep the role for the rest of the regular season because Steve Kerr changes lineups so frequently. That said, Kerr is an experienced coach who should know better than to constantly change starting lineups, so it’s plausible to think this is one of the final changes that will be made as we head into the second half of the season. 2/2/2025
