Steph Curry wanted to be a combination of Steve Nash and Reggie Miller. That’s interesting information to me because I didn’t find Nash or Miller particularly aesthetic on the basketball court. I’ve never loved watching Steph play either, but they’re each great at basketball. The thing I like most about Steph’s game is his quick release, which reminds me more of Ray Allen than anybody else. A quick release doesn’t have much in common with Miller. There are few fundamentals in Miller’s shot.

But Miller worked very hard at creating a reliable shot for himself, as documented by Allen, and Allen and Curry took that work ethic along with their better fundamentals and became who they were.
