Jalen Brunson’s contract for 2025 through 2029 (viewable in his contract history above) is an undervalued contract. Analysts have different opinions on why he decided to sign a team-friendly deal. I don’t think Jalen Brunson doesn’t think he’s worth a lot of money now; I think he may have doubted himself slightly five years from now. Brunson’s contract balloons the more years it goes on, so he’s making a lot more money in 2029 compared to 2025. I think the Knicks management approached Brunson and told him that they love him today but have some slight concerns about what he might be like five years from now since he was never the best athlete in America (but with better social skills than me). And I think Brunson may have agreed with them and was willing to take a pay cut to avoid becoming one of the players fan bases hate in the future. I suspeect Brunson didn’t want to sacrifice the team or himself like that because he’s both nice and wise. For the 2024-25 NBA Season so far, Brunson hasn’t disappointed; he’s the same player he was last season and looks very good. 2/24/2025

Jalen Brunson has been around basketball his whole life. Pictures show him standing with NBA players when he was a boy. Brunson started his career in Dallas and Mark Cuban knew that he had a very good player. Cuban wanted to re-sign Brunson; however, Brunson decided to sign with the New York Knicks instead.
