The 2000 WNBA season was the fourth season in league history and featured 16 teams after the league expanded to new markets across the United States. The Houston Comets remained the dominant franchise of the era, finishing with a league-best 27-5 record before winning their fourth consecutive WNBA championship. As the league continued to grow, the season showcased an increasingly competitive landscape, with more teams, larger fan interest, and many of the sport’s top players establishing themselves as stars.

New York defeated Washington 2–0 and Cleveland defeated Orlando 2–1 in the Eastern Conference first round. Houston defeated Sacramento 2–0 and Los Angeles defeated Phoenix 2–0 in the Western Conference first round. New York then defeated Cleveland 2–1, Houston defeated Los Angeles 2–0, and Houston defeated New York 2–0 in the WNBA Finals.
