The 1983–84 season was a notable one for the Nets, finishing with a 45–37 record under head coach Stan Albeck. They secured the 4th spot in the Atlantic Division and made a playoff appearance, defeating the Philadelphia 76ers in the first round before falling to the Milwaukee Bucks in the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
