Iowa State has produced scorers, playmakers, rebounders, culture-setters, and program-redefining stars across multiple eras. 1. Jeff Grayer
- Years at Iowa State: 1984–1988
- Position: Forward
- Notable Achievements:
- Iowa State’s career scoring leader with 2,502 points
- Three-time First-Team All-Big Eight selection
- Four-time Big Eight All-Defensive Team pick
- Retired No. 44 jersey
- Helped power the Johnny Orr era into national relevance

2. Fred Hoiberg
- Years at Iowa State: 1991–1995
- Position: Guard

- All-American as a senior
- Big Eight co-Athlete of the Year in 1995
- Retired No. 32 jersey
- Ames-born star and one of the most beloved players in school history
- Helped Iowa State win a then-school-record 23 games in 1994–95

3. Georges Niang

- Only two-time All-American in Iowa State men’s basketball history
- Two-time First-Team All-Big 12 selection
- Karl Malone Award winner in 2016
- Second in school history in career points with 2,228
- Led Iowa State to four NCAA Tournament appearances and two Sweet Sixteens

4. Marcus Fizer
- Years at Iowa State: 1998–2000

- Consensus First-Team All-American in 2000
- Big 12 Player of the Year
- Set school single-season records for points (844) and field goals (327)
- Led Iowa State to the 2000 Elite Eight
- No. 4 pick in the 2000 NBA Draft

5. Jamaal Tinsley
- Years at Iowa State: 1999–2001

- First-Team All-American in 2001
- Big 12 Player of the Year in 2001
- Led Iowa State to consecutive Big 12 regular-season titles
- Guided the Cyclones to the 2000 Elite Eight

6. Zaid Abdul-Aziz

- Big Eight Player of the Year in 1968
- Led the Big Eight in scoring twice
- Led the conference in rebounding three times

- No. 5 pick in the 1968 NBA Draft

7. Gary Thompson
- Years at Iowa State: 1954–1957
- Position: Guard

- First 1,000-point scorer in school history
- Multi-sport All-American in basketball and baseball
- Averaged 19.1 points as a junior and 20.1 as a senior
- Led Iowa State to a then-school-record 18 wins in 1957
- Scored 40 points against unbeaten No. 8 Vanderbilt

- Broke the Big Eight career assists record with 665
- Hit the overtime buzzer-beater against Miami (Ohio) in the 1986 NCAA Tournament

9. Victor Alexander
