The Indiana Fever were established as a WNBA expansion franchise in 2000 by Herb Simon and Pacers Sports & Entertainment. Simon, who had already owned the Indiana Pacers for many years, was instrumental in bringing a WNBA team to Indianapolis.

Under Simon’s ownership, the Fever quickly became one of the league’s most successful franchises. The team made multiple playoff appearances, reached the WNBA Finals in 2009 and 2012, and captured its first championship in 2012 behind stars Tamika Catchings, Katie Douglas, and Briann January.

Pacers Sports & Entertainment has continued to invest in the franchise through player development, facilities, and community outreach programs. The organization’s long-term commitment to women’s basketball has helped the Fever remain one of the WNBA’s cornerstone franchises.
