Ben Simmons played 58 games in 2020-21 and 42 games in 2022-23. Honestly, it feels like he has played a lot less than that. It felt like as soon as the seasons got going and his performances weren’t very good he would pull himself from the teams with an “injury.” That next offseason, Simmons posted workout videos to social media of him lifting a lot of weights, which didn’t seem relevant to his on-court problems. The reason Simmons hasn’t lived up to expectations is because he can’t shoot jumpshots and in the NBA, he couldn’t score much when all of his shots were layups. So I wasn’t confident of him having a good season in 2023-24 and he didn’t have a good season. Simmons played only 15 games that season. Now we are in the offseason again and Simmons is posting videos to social media showcasing his layups skills. It seems he still isn’t working on his jump shots.
Just last week, the Australian Boomers announced their Olympic squad, and Ben Simmons wasn’t included. Some say it was because Simmons informed the Boomers that he wasn’t willing to play for them. I doubt they would have selected him anyway.
