The 2004–05 NBDL season was the fourth season in league history and the final year before the National Basketball Development League adopted the NBA D-League name in 2005. Six teams competed during the season, with the Columbus Riverdragons finishing atop the regular-season standings with a 30–18 record.
Although Columbus earned the league’s best regular-season record, the Asheville Altitude captured the 2005 NBDL championship after defeating the Riverdragons in the Finals. Asheville finished the regular season at 27–21 and successfully converted its playoff run into a league title.
The standings below show the final regular-season records and playoff results for all teams that competed during the 2004–05 NBDL season.

The 2004–05 NBDL had six teams and 48-game regular seasons. Columbus finished first at 30–18, while Asheville won its second consecutive championship, defeating Columbus 90–67 in the one-game final.
Columbus defeated Roanoke 96–89 in the semifinal, while Asheville defeated Huntsville 90–86. Asheville then beat Columbus 90–67 for the championship.
