The Grand Rapids Gold’s 2025–26 season continued the franchise’s role as a key extension of the Denver Nuggets organization, with the roster serving as a mix of developing prospects, NBA-experienced players, and emerging professionals seeking larger opportunities. As is often the case in the G League, frequent assignments, call-ups, and roster moves shaped the team’s identity from month to month, requiring different players to assume featured roles throughout the season. The Gold remained an offensively oriented group, with several contributors producing breakout stretches that helped keep the team competitive despite constant lineup changes. More than any single result, the season reflected the organization’s emphasis on growth and evaluation, providing valuable playing time for prospects while continuing Grand Rapids’ reputation as an important stop for players working toward NBA careers.

His 6.1 assists and 10.5 three-point attempts point to a genuine creator-shooter workload, while his 36.0 minutes made him the clear on-court centerpiece. His 40-point outburst against Capital City also showed how quickly the scoring pressure could shift into takeover mode. | DaRon Holmes | Two-Way Frontcourt Star (1.1) | 34.8 | High | 20.9 | 7.6 | 3.7 | 1.8 | 89.76 | A versatile frontcourt scorer who could operate beyond the paint, Holmes gave Grand Rapids a rare combination of scoring, rebounding, playmaking and rim protection. The season was particularly notable because it represented his first sustained competitive action after the ACL injury that wiped out his 2024-25 rookie campaign. | Moses Brown | Rim-Protecting Centerpiece (1.1) | 21.4 | High | 16.4 | 9.7 | 0.7 | 2.2 | 76.56 | A classic interior force, Brown’s value came from occupying the paint, creating second chances and deterring attacks around the rim. His 4.6 offensive rebounds per game made him especially difficult to keep off the glass, while the 1.6 blocks reinforced the vertical defensive presence that has defined his G League career. | Tamar Bates | Primary Scoring Wing (1.1) | 33.3 | High | 19.6 | 4.3 | 2.4 | 2.0 | 74.71 | Bates operated as a polished scoring wing, comfortable attacking closeouts but particularly dangerous when given space to rise into jumpers. His 43.4% three-point shooting and 90.0% free-throw accuracy fit the profile of a perimeter scorer who could punish defenses without needing every possession built around him. His transition from Missouri’s featured starter to a productive G League scorer ultimately earned him another two-way opportunity with Utah. | Kessler Edwards | Starting Two-Way Forward (1.05) | 33.5 | Medium | 14.3 | 9.1 | 2.3 | 3.1 | 66.53 | Edwards functioned as a rangy two-way forward whose defensive activity was as important as his scoring. The combination of 1.8 steals and 1.3 blocks with 9.1 rebounds suggests a player covering substantial ground rather than simply defending a single matchup, while his 40.9% three-point shooting gave the frontcourt spacing value. | |
| James Akinjo | Lead Shot-Creating Point Guard (1.05) | 27.1 | High | 12.1 | 3.1 | 5.9 | 1.3 | 56.45 | Akinjo was the table-setter, carrying the secondary creation burden whenever the offense needed organization or a late-clock solution. His 5.9 assists demonstrate the passing responsibility, but his season was also defined by individual shot creation; he was named MVP of the 2026 G League Next Up Game after hitting the winning three in the championship game. | Javante McCoy | Secondary Offensive Creator (1.05) | 23.1 | Medium | 13.4 | 4.3 | 2.7 | 0.9 | 49.20 | McCoy supplied efficient secondary scoring rather than needing to monopolize possessions, with a compact shooting profile built around two-point attacks and reliable perimeter spacing. His professional value has long rested on creating offense without excessive waste, and that translated neatly into a reserve role here. His previous college career also established him as a high-level scoring guard, including First Team All-Patriot League recognition. | Coleman Hawkins | Point-Forward Connector (1.05) | 19.7 | Medium | 5.2 | 4.8 | 3.9 | 2.1 | 36.96 | Hawkins’ offensive value was much broader than his scoring line: he functioned as a connective big who could move the ball, make reads from the frontcourt and defend multiple positions. The 3.9 assists alongside 1.5 steals and 0.6 blocks fit the profile of a mobile playmaking forward rather than a conventional reserve big. His versatility had already earned him All-Big 12 recognition at Kansas State. Coleman Hawkins flashes full potential for Kansas State in Big 12 Tournament victory The Wichita Eagle | |
| Dane Goodwin | Movement-Shooting Wing (1.05) | 21.7 | Medium | 8.9 | 2.6 | 1.2 | 1.5 | 32.80 | Goodwin’s role centered on perimeter movement and catch-and-shoot offense, with his 5.4 three-point attempts per game making spacing a major part of his function. He could also contribute defensively without dominating the ball; a January comeback against Maine illustrated the upside when his shooting rhythm caught fire late. | Justyn Hamilton | Interior Utility Big (1.0) | 10.1 | Low | 4.9 | 3.8 | 0.8 | 1.3 | 21.60 | Hamilton provided short-burst frontcourt minutes as a physical interior reserve, with his value leaning toward rebounding and rim protection rather than perimeter creation. The defensive instincts were established earlier in his career when he led the MAC in blocks and won Sixth Man of the Year at Kent State, making the reserve role a natural fit. Justyn Hamilton Kent State | |
| Terrence Hargrove Jr. | Energy Wing Reserve (1.0) | 10.8 | Low | 3.5 | 1.3 | 0.4 | 0.5 | 11.40 | Hargrove worked as an energy-oriented wing reserve, offering athleticism and occasional perimeter shooting without carrying a major creation load. The small postseason-style sample limits the certainty of the evaluation, but his role was clearly more about filling minutes, defending and providing opportunistic offense than running possessions. | |
| Bryce Wills | Defensive Utility Guard (1.0) | 2.5 | Low | 0.0 | 0.5 | 1.0 | 1.0 | 5.00 | Wills’ sample is extremely small, but the available minutes point toward a defensive utility role rather than a scoring assignment. He contributed a full assist and a combined steal/block contribution in just two appearances, so the sensible evaluation is limited to that narrow reserve function. Bryce Wills NBA G League | |
| Michael Caicedo | Deep Rotation Wing (1.0) | 3.3 | Low | 0.0 | 1.0 | 0.3 | 0.3 | 3.20 | Caicedo saw only three brief appearances, making this a very small-sample evaluation. His clearest contribution was basic wing depth, with a rebound and occasional defensive activity in limited floor time rather than a developed offensive role. |

| David Roddy | Point-Forward Catalyst (1.1) | 37.0 | High (1.2) | 23.0 | 10.0 | 6.0 | 4.0 | 94.60 | Roddy immediately looked like a jumbo creator rather than a conventional forward, using his strength to attack mismatches while also initiating offense. In his lone Grand Rapids appearance, he filled the box score with scoring, rebounding, playmaking and defensive activity, a particularly intriguing snapshot for a player trying to regain a larger NBA role. | Moses Brown | Interior Scoring Anchor (1.1) | 27.0 | High (1.2) | 21.3 | 11.7 | 0.5 | 2.3 | 94.51 | Brown was the Gold’s true interior fulcrum, creating offense through deep position, offensive rebounding and sheer size. His 7-foot-2 frame gave Grand Rapids a reliable paint presence, and a 26-point, 16-rebound, three-block performance against Capital City showed how disruptive he could become when the game tilted toward the interior. | DaRon Holmes | Stretch Playmaking Big (1.1) | 37.6 | High (1.2) | 20.7 | 8.3 | 4.0 | 1.9 | 92.14 | Holmes played like a modern two-way forward, comfortable spacing the floor, attacking mismatches and making reads from the frontcourt. This G League stint was also his first substantial competitive action after the Achilles injury that wiped out his rookie season, making the combination of scoring versatility and defensive activity especially encouraging. | Curtis Jones | Lead Shot Creator (1.1) | 36.6 | High (1.2) | 20.2 | 5.1 | 5.6 | 1.4 | 85.27 | Jones operated as a high-volume scoring guard who could carry possessions from the perimeter without completely sacrificing playmaking. His shooting range stretched defenses well beyond the arc, and the 40-point performance against Capital City — including seven threes — illustrated the takeover scoring that defined his Gold role. | KJ Simpson | Two-Way Lead Guard (1.05) | 35.8 | High (1.2) | 19.8 | 3.8 | 5.3 | 1.6 | 76.86 | Simpson brought downhill pressure and point-guard instincts to the Gold, attacking gaps rather than functioning solely as a spot-up guard. His two-way deal with Denver followed a strong G League run, and the overtime win over Oklahoma City highlighted the combination of scoring, passing and point-of-attack defense that made him useful in both roles. | Dane Goodwin | Movement Shooting Wing (1.05) | 35.3 | Medium (1.1) | 17.9 | 5.3 | 2.1 | 1.3 | 61.45 | Goodwin worked primarily as a movement shooter and perimeter scorer, but his rebounding gave him a larger role than a pure floor spacer. His February eruption against Osceola, including six made threes and a double-double, showed how dangerous he became when defenders lost him around screens and handoffs. | Coleman Hawkins | Point-Center Connector (1.05) | 31.1 | Medium (1.1) | 8.7 | 8.0 | 6.4 | 2.4 | 58.91 | Hawkins functioned as a connective big who could initiate offense, move the ball from the elbows and defend across the frontcourt. His triple-double against Capital City, followed later by a 12-rebound, 11-point effort against Oklahoma City, captured the unusual all-around responsibilities he handled without needing to be a primary scorer. | Kessler Edwards | Defensive Coverage Forward (1.05) | 33.6 | Medium (1.1) | 14.1 | 7.5 | 1.4 | 2.3 | 58.44 | Edwards supplied the Gold with length, rebounding and switchable defense while still providing credible spacing. His ability to defend different forward matchups and contribute as a secondary scorer made him particularly valuable in lineups where the primary guards carried the creation burden. | Tamar Bates | Scoring Two-Way Wing (1.05) | 33.0 | High (1.2) | 18.0 | 3.0 | 0.0 | 2.0 | 57.96 | Bates played the role of an aggressive scoring wing, combining pull-up shooting with straight-line drives and active hands defensively. His efficient perimeter shooting helped turn the G League stint into a meaningful development opportunity, ultimately leading to another two-way contract with Utah. | Javante McCoy | Secondary Perimeter Creator (1.05) | 25.9 | Medium (1.1) | 15.5 | 2.8 | 3.2 | 0.8 | 51.51 | McCoy supplied compact secondary creation, attacking closeouts and getting into the paint without needing the offense built entirely around him. His previous Boston University career established him as a proven scoring guard, while his return from a season-ending injury made this G League opportunity an important reset. | Justyn Hamilton | Rim-Sealing Reserve Big (1.0) | 14.5 | Low (1.0) | 6.9 | 4.6 | 0.7 | 1.1 | 26.60 | Hamilton provided physical interior minutes, leaning on screening, rebounding and rim protection rather than perimeter creation. | Terrence Hargrove Jr. | Athletic Wing Stopper (1.0) | 20.8 | Low (1.0) | 8.3 | 3.3 | 0.5 | 0.8 | 25.80 | Hargrove’s value came from athletic wing defense, transition running and occasional perimeter scoring rather than heavy creation. His professional background in Denmark, where he helped Bakken win the league title in 2024-25, gave him useful experience as an energetic two-way contributor before joining Denver’s organization. | Ben Coupet | Floor-Spacing Forward (1.0) | 20.6 | Low (1.0) | 6.8 | 3.3 | 1.2 | 0.6 | 23.80 | Coupet served as a spacing-oriented forward who could make simple reads and attack an unsettled defense without demanding the ball. His Grand Rapids role was mostly complementary, although he showed he could step into a larger scoring load when injuries or rotations opened the door. Ben Coupet Jr. | |
| Derek Ogbeide | Physical Interior Reserve (1.0) | 11.1 | Low (1.0) | 4.2 | 3.6 | 0.3 | 0.3 | 16.80 | Ogbeide was used as a traditional interior reserve, bringing strength around the basket and competing for second possessions. His midseason arrival from San Diego made the role especially situational, with Grand Rapids using him primarily for frontcourt depth rather than offensive initiation. Derek Ogbeide Player Profile | |
| Tony Carr | Veteran Ball-Movement Guard (1.0) | 8.0 | Low (1.0) | 2.8 | 1.8 | 1.0 | 0.0 | 11.20 | Carr’s role was that of an experienced reserve guard capable of settling possessions and moving the ball rather than forcing offense. The sample is small, so the clearest takeaway is his use as backcourt depth rather than a sustained rotation creator. Tony Carr | |
| Rahsool Diggins | Microwave Guard Reserve (1.0) | 10.9 | Low (1.0) | 2.1 | 0.6 | 1.5 | 1.0 | 10.40 | Diggins supplied brief guard minutes with an emphasis on perimeter creation and defensive pressure. His time in Grand Rapids was short-lived after arriving through the player pool, making this more of a situational developmental stint than a settled rotation role. Rahsool Diggins Jr. | |
| Trae Hannibal | Defensive Pressure Guard (1.0) | 13.4 | Low (1.0) | 0.8 | 1.6 | 1.8 | 0.2 | 8.80 | Hannibal’s clearest function was as a physical guard capable of pressuring the ball and making connective passes. His Grand Rapids stint lasted only five games before another roster move, so the sample does not support a broader offensive evaluation. Trae Hannibal Player Profile | |
| Blaise Threatt | Change-of-Pace Guard (1.0) | 9.0 | Low (1.0) | 1.5 | 1.3 | 0.7 | 0.2 | 7.40 | Threatt occupied a small backcourt role, bringing some ball pressure and pace in short stretches. With only six appearances, the evidence is too thin to project a larger role, but his defensive activity was the most identifiable part of the stint. Grand Rapids Gold Stats | |
| P.J. Hayes IV | Spot-Up Guard Reserve (1.0) | 5.0 | Low (1.0) | 3.0 | 0.0 | 0.0 | 0.0 | 6.00 | Hayes was essentially a deep perimeter reserve in this tiny sample, with his lone appearance centered on taking open threes rather than running the offense. One game is not enough to draw a broader conclusion about his role. Legends Announce Trade With Gold | |
| Jaden Seymour | Hustle Wing Reserve (1.0) | 4.3 | Low (1.0) | 1.2 | 1.1 | 0.1 | 0.2 | 5.20 | Seymour’s minutes were limited, with his contribution centered on energy possessions, rebounding and basic defensive coverage. Nine appearances provide enough evidence for a reserve role, but not enough to suggest a larger offensive assignment. Gold All-Time Roster | |
| Michael Caicedo | Developmental Wing (1.0) | 8.3 | Low (1.0) | 1.1 | 1.0 | 0.3 | 0.0 | 4.80 | Caicedo’s stint was developmental in nature, with only brief opportunities to translate his international wing experience into the G League. The limited sample points toward depth rather than a defined offensive responsibility. Michael Caicedo | |
| Jermaine Couisnard | Emergency Wing Depth (1.0) | 6.0 | Low (1.0) | 0.7 | 1.0 | 0.3 | 0.3 | 4.60 | Couisnard appeared only three times, so his Grand Rapids contribution is best viewed as emergency wing depth rather than a stable rotation role. His broader professional résumé includes time with the Rip City Remix and Memphis Hustle before the late-season Gold stint. Jermaine Couisnard |
