The Grand Rapids Gold’s 2024–25 season showcased the depth of Denver’s player development system, with the roster serving as a landing spot for both young prospects and experienced professionals looking to stay on the NBA radar. Trey Alexander emerged as one of the team’s most important contributors, carrying a significant offensive load while demonstrating the scoring and playmaking skills that made him one of the Nuggets’ key developmental projects. The Gold also received valuable production from players such as Jalen Pickett and Zeke Nnaji during their appearances, while roster movement throughout the season created opportunities for new contributors to step into larger roles. Grand Rapids remained an offensively capable team despite constant lineup changes, and the season continued the franchise’s recent trend of prioritizing player growth alongside competitive basketball.

Tevian Jones Instant-Offense Reserve (1.05) 26.2 Medium (1.1) 12.5 6.0 1.6 1.0 48.74 Explosive scoring reserve whose value came from changing the pace of a game without needing starter-level touches. His 25-point, 9-rebound, 4-assist performance against Oklahoma City showed the attacking mentality he could bring from the second unit. Tevian Jones professional profile
Spencer Jones Starting Two-Way Wing (1.05) 28.4 Medium (1.1) 11.3 5.5 1.7 1.5 46.20 Three-and-D wing who supplied floor spacing while bringing useful rebounding and defensive activity from the forward spot. His 18-point outing against Wisconsin illustrated how his shooting could punish defenses when the primary creators drew attention. Spencer Jones’ Grand Rapids opportunity
Andrew Funk Movement Shooting Wing (1.05) 35.3 Medium (1.1) 10.1 3.6 2.5 1.2 40.19 High-volume perimeter spacer whose movement and willingness to fire from deep opened driving lanes for Grand Rapids’ creators. His previous G League profile already established him as a heavy three-point shooter, and that role carried into this Showcase group. Andrew Funk’s G League role
Charles Bediako Rim-Protecting Centerpiece (1.05) 22.8 Medium (1.0) 8.8 6.9 0.9 1.3 37.59 Interior anchor who gave the lineup a physical target around the rim and defensive insurance behind the perimeter players. Gabe McGlothan Energy Big Forward (1.05) 19.9 Medium (1.0) 7.9 4.5 0.9 1.8 31.71 Active frontcourt piece who supplied rebounding, defensive disruption and occasional perimeter scoring without needing the offense built around him. He also brought an unusually energetic personality to the group, becoming one of the recognizable faces of Grand Rapids’ December run. Sports Illustrated on Gabe McGlothan’s Grand Rapids role
Will Richardson Secondary Ball-Handler (1.05) 23.9 Medium (1.0) 7.8 3.4 3.2 1.3 32.97 Connector guard who could settle possessions, move the ball and provide secondary creation behind the higher-usage scorers. His value was more about keeping the offense organized than forcing shots, giving the Gold another capable decision-maker in the backcourt. Will Richardson player profile
Jaylin Williams Stretch Frontcourt Reserve (1.05) 19.9 Medium (1.0) 8.8 3.0 1.0 1.4 29.82 Versatile reserve big who could space the floor and attack mismatches rather than serving as a traditional interior-only forward. His .410 three-point mark in the sample gave Grand Rapids another way to pull opposing frontcourts away from the paint. Jaylin Williams’ NBA transition
Ithiel Horton Perimeter Scoring Reserve (1.0) 13.3 Low (1.0) 4.0 1.3 1.3 0.5 14.20 Limited-minute guard whose clearest function was spacing the floor and providing a low-maintenance scoring option when the rotation needed another perimeter body. Spencer Jones Two-Way Stretch Forward (1.05) 32.5 Medium (1.1) 17.2 7.9 1.9 3.1 69.53 Switchable shooting forward who could space the floor while still making plays around the glass and defensively. His short Gold stint was especially productive, with the combination of perimeter shooting, rebounding and defensive event creation giving him a bigger role than a conventional spot-up wing. Spencer Jones season profile and development
Tevian Jones Scoring Wing Catalyst (1.05) 30.1 Medium (1.1) 15.6 3.7 1.9 1.4 52.21 Aggressive wing scorer who gave Grand Rapids another source of pressure when possessions became stagnant. He was particularly useful as a change-of-pace attacker, including a late-season overtime win in which his game-winning layup finished a 22-point performance. Tevian Jones 2024-25 season context
Charles Bediako Starting Rim Protector (1.0) 25.2 Medium (1.0) 10.4 9.3 1.2 1.9 47.88 Rim-running defensive anchor who gave the lineup size, rebounding and a reliable interior target. His role was most valuable when Grand Rapids needed to establish physicality inside; a late-season stretch included multiple double-doubles and reinforced his value as a possession-finishing big. Charles Bediako’s professional-season context
Will Richardson Secondary Pick-and-Roll Creator (1.0) 28.7 Low (1.0) 12.0 3.6 4.6 1.7 45.99 Secondary ball-handler and connective guard who could take pressure off the primary scorers while still creating advantages off the bounce. Gabe McGlothan Stretch-Four Energy Piece (1.0) 24.7 Low (1.0) 9.2 6.4 1.4 1.7 39.27 Active stretch-four whose game mixed rebounding, physical defense and enough perimeter shooting to pull opposing forwards away from the paint. His Grand Canyon background as a productive rebounder and 2024 dunk-contest winner added context to the athletic, high-energy role he brought to Grand Rapids. Gabe McGlothan’s professional transition
Andrew Funk Movement Shooting Specialist (1.0) 33.6 Low (1.0) 9.7 4.0 3.2 0.8 37.17 Movement shooter and floor spacer whose willingness to work off the ball helped create room for Grand Rapids’ primary creators. His established reputation as a high-volume three-point threat remained central to his professional role, even as his responsibilities expanded beyond simply spotting up. Andrew Funk’s basketball background
Jaylin Williams Versatile Frontcourt Connector (1.05) 19.0 Low (1.0) 8.6 2.9 1.5 0.6 28.56 Mobile frontcourt connector who could stretch the defense, make simple reads and defend multiple positions. His Auburn background included a career-best 39.5% from three, which fits the floor-spacing dimension Grand Rapids could use from a reserve forward. Jaylin Williams’ Auburn-to-pro development
Ithiel Horton Perimeter Shot-Making Reserve (1.0) 15.2 Low (1.0) 6.3 1.4 1.4 0.6 19.40 Perimeter scoring reserve whose clearest value came from providing another shooting option without demanding the offense be built around him. The limited role and modest sample make a larger evaluation difficult, but his spacing gave the rotation useful depth on the wing. Ithiel Horton player context
Amauri Hardy Backup Ball-Handling Guard (1.0) 11.8 Low (1.0) 5.4 1.8 2.2 0.2 19.20 Reserve ball-handler who could organize possessions and create a little offense in short stretches. His five-game sample was too small for firm conclusions, but the playmaking responsibility was evident in the minutes he did receive. Amauri Hardy player profile
Deante Johnson Interior Defensive Reserve (1.0) 12.6 Low (1.0) 4.0 2.8 0.8 0.9 17.00 Situational interior defender whose minutes were built around size, rebounding and rim protection rather than offensive creation. With a very limited sample, his role is best viewed as targeted frontcourt depth rather than a sustained rotation assignment. Deante Johnson player context
Joey Baker Emergency Floor-Spacing Wing (1.0) 9.2 Low (1.0) 4.5 1.4 0.6 0.3 13.60 End-of-rotation wing whose main theoretical fit was perimeter spacing and positional size.
