By March 17, Bam Adebayo had made two three-point shots in back-to-back games.
As a result, I tweeted the following:
Not only can Adebayo shoot 3s, but he can do them off the dribble which means he can comfortably shoot them well. He should average at least 1.0 3pa. He shoots well enough for them not to leave him alone out there. You have to add that dynamic to your offense when it’s available.
The very next game, Bam Adebayo sunk a game-winner that was, yes, you guessed it: a three-pointer! I then tweeted this:
Bam Adebayo hit the game-winning 3-point shot the day after this tweet. It was his third 3-point make in 3 games.
Bam commented to the Miami Herald on April 02 that he will continue to shoot threes, but suggested it wasn’t his coach that was preventing him from shooting them already but rather himself. Bam said his not choosing to space the floor with his own 3s was a “glaring deficiency that everybody just wants me to do.”
Bam Adebayo can hit the occasional three on NBA 2K24, but he’s not a floor-spacing center and in general, the game portrays him as not a very good shooter — he can barely make simple drives to the basket in the game. However, if Adebayo develops a consistent 3, presumably they’ll have to respect his driving ability more as well, and the Heat would be a lot of fun to play with. As it is, they’re not competitive for a championship due to certain player’s weaknesses. Adebayo being portrayed as one-dimensional on offense is one of them. Thankfully reality is different to gaming. I still give the Heat an outside chance in real life. They have a lot of talent.

Notes:
What’s most important for Bam Adebayo this season is that he plays great defense because only he and Jimmy Butler are very good defenders. The Heat rely on Adebayo’s defense a lot, especially when Jimmy butler has no choice but to spend so much energy on the offensive end. That said, if he can include more offense while still playing the same high-quality defense, Adebayo can help the Heat reach the NBA finals this year.
