David Thompson (SG/SF, 1972–1975)
- The greatest player in NC State history and one of the best in college basketball history.
- Led NC State to its first NCAA Championship in 1974, ending UCLA’s dynasty.
- Three-time ACC Player of the Year and two-time National Player of the Year.
- Scored 2,309 career points without a three-point line.
- Inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame.
- Known for inventing the alley-oop play and his 44-inch vertical leap.
Tom Burleson (C, 1971–1974)
- 7’2″ center who anchored the Wolfpack’s 1974 championship team.
- Had a legendary battle against UCLA’s Bill Walton in the Final Four.
- Played six seasons in the NBA.
Dereck Whittenburg (SG, 1979–1983)
- Famous for the “airball pass” that led to Lorenzo Charles’ game-winning dunk in the 1983 NCAA Championship.

Lorenzo Charles (PF, 1981–1985)
