The Jazz concluded the 1982–83 season with a 30–52 record, finishing 5th in the Midwest Division and 9th in the Western Conference, thereby missing the playoffs for the ninth consecutive season.

Notably, Adrian Dantley led the team in scoring, averaging 30.7 points per game in just 22 games played. Darrell Griffith was the team’s leading scorer over the season, averaging 22.2 points per game.
