Tracy McGrady, a seven-time NBA All-Star and two-time scoring champion, experienced several pivotal trades during his illustrious career. Here’s a chronological overview of his trade history:

2000: Toronto Raptors → Orlando Magic

In August 2000, McGrady joined the Orlando Magic through a sign-and-trade deal with the Toronto Raptors. The Raptors received a 2005 first-round draft pick (used to select Fran Vázquez) in exchange. This move allowed McGrady to emerge as a superstar, leading the league in scoring twice and earning four All-Star selections during his four seasons in Orlando.

2004: Orlando Magic → Houston Rockets

On June 29, 2004, McGrady was traded to the Houston Rockets in a blockbuster seven-player deal. The Magic sent McGrady, Juwan Howard, Tyronn Lue, and Reece Gaines to the Rockets in exchange for Steve Francis, Cuttino Mobley, and Kelvin Cato. In Houston, McGrady teamed up with Yao Ming, forming a formidable duo that, despite injuries, led the Rockets to multiple playoff appearances.

2010: Houston Rockets → New York Knicks (Three-Team Trade)

In February 2010, McGrady was part of a three-team trade involving the Houston Rockets, New York Knicks, and Sacramento Kings. The Rockets traded McGrady to the Knicks, receiving Kevin Martin and other assets, while the Kings acquired Carl Landry and Joey Dorsey. This trade provided the Knicks with significant salary cap relief ahead of the 2010 free agency period.

After his stint with the Knicks, McGrady signed short-term contracts with the Detroit Pistons (2010–11), Atlanta Hawks (2011–12), and San Antonio Spurs (2013). He retired from professional basketball in 2013. Throughout his career, McGrady’s trades significantly impacted the teams involved and left a lasting legacy in the NBA.
