Shaq doesn’t think that the Pelicans can contend this year. On TNT Tip-Off today, he said he can’t see the Pelicans beating the top four teams in the West. This news comes a day after I watched him on The Big Podcast with Shaq saying how he thought the Celtics were an overrated team (when forced to pick a team that he thinks is overrated). Shaq speaks more freely on podcasts compared with TNT, and he made it clear that you have to prove to him that you can win in the playoffs before he will believe in you. With that in mind, it’s not surprising he doesn’t like the Pelicans.

If you haven’t watched The Big Podcast with Shaq on YouTube, I recommend you do. It’s one of the better basketball podcasts. Shaq travels the world and mentions interesting things about his travels. In the same podcast I referenced above, Shaq told a story about being in Abu Dabi on a ski-doo and nearly entering Iranian waters. The local police in the country he was in stopped him before he crossed the border and were quite kind after they recognized who it was. Stories like this are always fun to hear.
