On July 3, the Miami Heat were considered the favorite team to sign Demar DeRozan. Since then, it was the Sacramento Kings who were the favorites to sign Demar DeRozan according to Adrian Wojnarowski.

Today, Caleb Martin signed with the Philadelphia 76ers on a four-year 32 million deal. This happened after the Heat reportedly had offered a five-year 65 million deal. Why would Martin leave the Heat if that offer were true? He might not consider the Heat title contenders and the 76ers have become one of the top teams in the East due to their trade for Paul George and other picks up during the off-season including Buddy Hield and Eric Gordon.

Since the Heat have lost Caleb Martin in free agency, it may mean they try harder to trade for Demar DeRozan by increasing their asking price. There are reports of the Heat also trying to sign Lauri Markkanen. The Jazz have to sign Lauri Markkanen to an extension by August 6.
