Deron Williams, a three-time NBA All-Star and Olympic gold medalist, experienced a pivotal trade during his professional basketball career. Here’s a detailed overview:

February 23, 2011 – Traded from Utah Jazz to New Jersey Nets

In a surprising midseason move, the Utah Jazz traded Deron Williams to the New Jersey Nets. In return, the Jazz received point guard Devin Harris, rookie forward Derrick Favors, two first-round draft picks (the Nets’ 2011 pick and Golden State’s 2012 pick), and $3 million in cash considerations. This trade was unexpected, catching both fans and players off guard, as Williams had been a cornerstone for the Jazz since being drafted third overall in 2005.

Following his tenure with the Nets, Williams signed with the Dallas Mavericks in 2015 and later joined the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2017. These transitions were through free agency, not trades.
