Caleb Martin last week declined a five-year 65 million dollar offer from the Miami Heat to join the Philadelphia 76ers on a four-year 32 million dollar contract. The move makes the 76ers a very strong team competing for the 2024-25 NBA championship. While it’s not ideal for the Heat, I don’t think it will hurt them much, as they have young talent ready to step up and take those minutes from Martin anyway.

Now is the time to find out Nikola Jovic’s capabilities regarding staying healthy. If he can’t stay healthy during his first five years in the NBA, there is little chance of him staying healthy for his first prime ten years in the league and the Heat will be better off searching for a replacement soon than later.
