Bradley Beal lost some lateral agility/quickness in the 2024-25 NBA Season. As he has aged, he isn’t able to keep offensive players in front of him as well as he used to. Ideally, Beal is paired with a very strong wing defender capable of helping out with defending multiple positions. Alternatively, the Suns may wish to look into zone defenses where defenders cover an area rather than a player, which will allow other players to help out in defending his area on the court.

Notes:

  • Similar players to Bradley Beal include Devin Booker, Desmond Bane, Jalen Green, Devin Vassell, Tyrese Maxey, Buddy Hield, Jaden Ivey, Caris LeVert, Quentin Grimes, Dwyane Wade, and Ray Allen.

Player Updates: Bradley Beal didn’t want to leave the Washington Wizards for years after it had become clear that they needed to rebuild. It seemed unusual. Recently while playing for the Phoenix Suns, Beal was the subject of trade rumors. Beal said he doesn’t want to leave Pheonix because he doesn’t want to uproot his family. It seems family might be the most important thing in Beal’s life which may be the reason he stayed in Washington so long. Beal can play very good basketball still, but the Suns are struggling to be contenders with their current big 3. It may result in Beal needing to be moved at some stage. The Suns also tried to trade Durant instead since his contract was easier to move and Durant was offended by that. Chemistry might spiral out of control for the Suns now, but I feel for them a bit. I don’t think it’s anything personal toward Durant or Beal. But they’ll take it personally because they don’t see themselves as the problem. The Suns lack depth. The question is whether they can get it without moving any of their Big 3. They don’t have long to wait given the ages of Beal and Durant. 2/11/2025
