Michael Jordan left basketball after his father died to play the sport he loved as a kid, baseball. Some people think that Jordan leaving the NBA for a season strengthens the idea that he is better than Lebron because the Bulls were very strong that year and Jordan would have won another championship. However, I see it differently. I think Jordan leaving the NBA in 1994 allowed us to see how strong the Chicago Bulls were without him and it showed that they were a very good team without him. Even when Jordan was in his prime, he likely needed a team roughly as good as the Bulls were without him, for him to be able to win championships.

I don’t think rings are a worthy argument for who is better between Jordan and Lebron. For starters, they both have a similar number of rings. And we know that all else is not equal. We even know how good the Chicago Bulls were without Jordan because he left the NBA so we could see how good they were. They were very good without him. The Bulls made it to the Eastern Conference semifinals and lost to the Knicks in 7 games — a full-strength Knicks featuring Patrick Ewing.
