Yes, we most likely will get basketball leagues that rival the NBA. If you look at soccer, there are numerous soccer leagues around the world that people love and usually, three of those are arguably the best leagues in the world. Throughout my life, there have been two soccer leagues in particular that people could never agree on which was better: The EPL or La Liga.

La Liga is the Spanish soccer league and EPL is the English soccer league. I think Spain will have the chance to rival the USA with a basketball league in the future. But it will be a slow process because today if you speak English, you can’t watch the Spanish basketball broadcast because nobody offers it in English. The second-best English-speaking basketball league in the world is located in Australia, and many players who didn’t continue playing in the NBA or weren’t drafted into the NBA play in the NBL in Australia. I think Australia’s league has a bright future. But it would likely be the Spanish league or the Italian league that rivals the NBA before Australia.

Australia is a large land mass but it doesn’t have the population potential many think because most of it is desert without lakes or rivers that would support people living there. It’s also located far away from most of the rest of the world which doesn’t make traveling in and out of it very convenient.
