The Miami Heat lost today to the Dallas Mavericks 93 – 111. The Heat played without starting point guard Terry Rozier. They also used Caleb Martin at shooting guard to start the game.

I don’t like Caleb Martin at shooting guard. He should never play in the backcourt. The smallest position for him should be small forward, but I would primarily use him as a floor-spacing power forward who can run faster and play harder than his opponents.

Kendrick Perkins said at half time that the Heat don’t have enough offensive firepower to compete this season. The Heat has plenty of firepower when they are healthy. Without Rozier, they don’t have much of a chance to beat any playoff team. He’s that important. I would have started Paty Mills at point guard in place of Rozier. Even if Mills doesn’t understand the offense, it still would have given them the best chance to win. Paty is a true point guard who plays basketball very well. He has always been undervalued in the NBA, perhaps due to a lack of a college career before the NBA.
